And certainly not Paninaro. They already failed in 1995.
Actually, I am afraid that any rerecording could end up with a boring four to the floor drumtrack. Although, if it sounds like Fugitive I'm fine with that. I never could stand these TR-909 sounds.

We certainly aint dismissing the new stuff, but some of us still love the old stuff !!!

That's why Paninaro was re-released (albeit a B-side made into a single to promote the Alternative), West End Girls - remixed, I want to wake up -remixed.

I actually quite liked the question, a few of the older PSB tracks could be made into real club classics and I wish they would re-visit some of them and put them either as additional B-sides or as downloads on the site. Re-releasing as singles I agree would probably be pointless.

I should have written 909 or 909-like sounds. And there are even songs where I like it. If you leave the sounds as they come from the drum machine, it sounds overheard. "It must be obvious" is an example. These masses of unedited claps and snares sound cheap (in my opinion!) In "So Hard" it's ok - the drums fit in the mix. "Delusions of Grandeur" is even a great song. "How I learned to hate R&R" is not so good. Many housy remixes for the Boys have these sounds as well. Before I get dissed for all this - I really like their drums in "Flamboyant", "We all feel better in the dark", "A man could get arrested" (12" mix) and lots of other songs. I am just not a fan of this early 90s dance drum sounds standing out so much. If it's four-to-the-floor it's even worse. "That's my Impression" is four-to-the-floor as well, but the drum sounds are just lush. You see, my taste is a bit hard to define. "Saturday Night Forever" and "Screaming" - bad. "Decadence" and "Minimal" - cool. So the mix and rest of the song also play a role for me.

Yes, the new stuff is great, but they'll never recapture the magic of Please-Very. Never.

Was P'95 a bad idea? Was West End girls '85 a bad idea (it hit #1 you know)?

Some on Behaviour sound like TR-808: "Only the Wind" (I love it), "To Face the Truth". "Don Juan" also sounds like it - one of my favourite b-sides.
The Introspective-Version of "I want a dog" sounds very much like 909 and there I just love the drums.
And NOW the worst examples of 909 come to my mind: The DJ International Mixes of "It's Alright". With this ugly use of naked, reverbed 303 sounds.
