I think you're right, but they did demo or record quite a few other tracks mainly around the time of C2H-PopArt which still haven't seen the light of day:

Pet Shop Boys can call a track whatever they like. They aren't any laws governing this...

I think the most obvious explanation is that as Fundamentalism is a remix album, they decided that all the tracks should have the producer/remixer name included in brackets.

A song can be elongated (yes even extended) from an original demo.
