Story behind the "Numb" cover

In some forums I've found , posted by some fans to explain this strange cover, a link to an article wikipedia that spoke about the Plague doctor with some pics and one of those was a plague doctor in the Venice carnival. I thik that that link could say the truth about the new cover, and it's gone in this way. But, I don't like the cover, I want Farrow and his design too. I loved the covers of Nightlife-era.

I got my PopArt 2CD Promo a good couple of weeks before PopArt was issued on 24th November.
With all the artwork that has to be done etc, surely the decision to remove Numb from the tracklist etc and shelve its plans for a single was done long before the photo shoot.
My guess is that the photo shoot was always planned and despite Numb not appearing on PopArt they decided to go ahead with it anyway.
