Yes, I had the same experience and they refund the postage but it's true the packaging is a disaster. Mostly a small cardboard box.
I'm also order for 110 $ this week and hope to get it well.

Really? I usually order books along with cd's and they usually arrive in huge well-packed boxes.
Quite true. I also order several pieces and they all arrive in excellent packaging so much so that I sometimes get bored of trying to pry to open the sides, and instead start to tear them with a scissors or a knife.
But I generally order four to five items and perhaps grouping is a factor in huge packages.

OK, credit where credit is due. I finally went through their, "Tell us what you want to return and why" online process after that unproductive email from them (they could have said "Hey, you need to go through the online process" in the message) and when I was through, I received a message stating that they would send out replacement items immediately and that I only needed to return the items within 30 days. They also stated that they would refund me return postage, but we'll see.
I agree with the previous poster that the volume of the delivery may have something to do with the poor condition of the items. Perhaps this is a lesson, one should group one's orders in smaller quanitites, even if it means spending a few more pounds.

I hate Amazon! I orderd from them 3 times, but it takes 1 month per each while I get the packages (luckily there are no crackes). One time I had to email them after 1 month 'where is my package?' and then they shipped it again, so Amazon is an unsafe firm!
Once I tried HMV and it's a very good firm! I love them! They are very fast and trusted! And also cheaper then Amazon.

I'm surprised Amazon seems so 'problematic' for some. Luckily, I haven't had problems with them... yet!
I know I had similar nightmarish issues with HMV (cd crashed etc.) and I am not ordering from them anymore.

I'd order through Amazon over HMV UK any day.
Amazon always send my cds in boxes where HMV just use a padded bag.

The items I have received from HMV recently have been properly packaged in cardboard. I hope the jiffy bags are no more!

I've never ordered from Amazon. I only do online orders through Specialist Mail Order companys, especially DVD websites (Lupin 3rd the last one I purchased

).

Ok, I received an email from Amazon today after I went through their online returns form, not only did they dispatch replacement items within 12 hours, but they told me to keep the damaged ones. So I received some messed-up discs, but I have to admit that they're making good! They certainly changed my mind!!! Take heart Amazon customers, they actually stand behind their orders. Now I feel bad for starting this topic...

I've never had issues with Amazon either in the US, Canada, or the UK and I order from them frequently. Some of the issues complained about here should be directed at customs or the postal service. Once Amazon sends out the package they have nothing to do with it. If Amazon mails a package on the 3rd and it doesn't get here for 3 weeks how can it be their fault?

Well Paul, you're right about the postal service, but Amazon was largely to blame in my case because sticking 10 CDS in a flimsy wrap-around wallet is a poor way of packaging an expensive purchase. Even the CDs that weren't severly damaged were scuffed enough that I would chose a better copies if I was purchasing them at a brick and mortar store. But they made good on hassle-free replacements so credit where credit is due.
