Well, what I like about PSB is they cover every aspect and phase of love, all the ups and downs (so to speak), and all types from "rented" to lifetime bonds. Neil himself has said love is the most important thing there is, IIRC.

Several other bands I like, e.g. Keane, have just one story in their songs, namely "she doesn't love me anymore", and however good the music this just gets a bit boring after a while.

good lord......what about Miracles!!!! I played this to my girlfriend at the time, to tell her what I felt about her, that day she felt so special, and then after that was the first time she told me she loved me.....its a great song, also, if you are in the bad books with your girlfriend or whomever, may I recommend the dub mix of Always on my mind, the two min version with just Neil, few violins and a tiny bit of synth at the end......

Totally agree re Miracles. And I think it is one song that is really enhanced
by the video. Song and vid enhance each other. Rare.

But I think Monty wanted "not upbeat" which i interpreted as romantic straight
mood music.

Perhaps Neil & Chris should follow George and Giles Martin's lead and produce a LOVE album.

PS Geofff's list of love songs was excellent....

It's true that PSB songs are not very romantic. But they do have love songs, still.
