no doubt they have made millions

but it costs a lot to be rich. Taxes and everything, there is a lot of rich people that go in debt because of taxes. Also there is the fact they have to live. You cant just make a bunch of cash and just sit naked in the middle of a park doing nothing and never spend it. Those Russian history books have to cost something. I think PSB are quite intelligent so I would guess they have cash in investments and stuff.

Also you don' t need to live every minute of your life in decadence when your rich. That being said I am sure the PSB live quite comfortably.

I would not mind the cash from West End girls alone I am sure that would be more than enough to enjoy the fine things in life

i remember reading in smash hits while they were promoting so hard that they had "only just" become millionaires quite recentley! quite good for 3 albums and a remix album if you ask me

They've certainly made the most of their "Opportunities" and made "lots of money".

There's quite a long delay before royalties are paid out, so that should make sense.

Just their property alone makes them quite rich. Neil owns a 3 bedroom house in an exclusive Square in Chelsea. That has to be worth about £3 - £4 million. Plus his house in Co Durham

Chris had his flat in EC1 (for those that don't know it's really central London) on the market recently at £895,000. I think it's sold now though.

You add to that all the investments (hasn't Neil spent quite a bit on paintings?) that they must have and they are two wealthy young men.

I am sure that they do have to play concerts to pay tax bills but that's merely a cashflow thing.

1) The back catalogue is worth a fortune and should they chose to sell it all, that would make them a tidy sum.

2) Property. Neil owns at least two properties. One in Chelsea. The Chelsea property alone would make Neil a millionaire.

Chris´s flat has been sold. At least I can´t see it on Hampton´s website anymore.

I remember years ago in Select magazine, sort of circa 1995, they listed the richest indie bands (according to them anyway).

Rather surprisingly Pet Shop Boys were number 1.

The surprising bit to me at the time was not that PSB were number 1, but that they were listed as an indie "band" in essentially an indie oriented magazine. The reason they were listed as an indie band was because they owned the royalities to their songs or some such arrangement where Parlophone didn't.

...I used to love that Select magazine, though it did go down the dumper somewhat in its last year.

So is making (good) music a profitable business or not?

chris has wore that yellow hoody far to much ( was wearing it around the popart release i.e MIRACLES video)and has certainly got the wear out of that hat!

I'm sure they have made pretty wise pension payments, according to Q magazine, even Kate Bush in the early 90s was putting half a mil a year away
