Prefab Sprout – Ever since masterful Jordan The Comeback (1990) Paddy McAloon has spoken about his plans of making a Zorro musical, a Michael Jackson themed album and 5-cd theme album of the history of the world. Meanwhile in the real world we have had only two threadbare albums, the latest of which came out six years ago.

Human League – why bother with the new material, when there's always a package tour with Sinitta and Swing Out Sister just around the corner.

ALmost all the bands I miss are on VH-1's Bands REunited.

Ultravox is a great band, you can still see Midge Ure perform live. That is cool.

I love these two bands also, but you have to understand that they aren't Duran Duran - they don't have millions stashed away in the bank. They need to earn money to put food on the table.

So when people aren't buying the material (and these bands, when they do record new albums, are still doing top class stuff) then they have to spend a lot of time touring just to make ends meet.

But Human League have a terrible track record of making albums even when they have had record contracts, financial backing and people actually waiting for something from them. Octopus was a proper comeback for them and there were studio diaries from them in 1996 but yet it took them until mid-2001 to release Secrets. Which was an alright album, but surely if you take six and half years to produce an album, you can come up with better songs than Liar, Sin City and half a dozen of insipid instrumentals to make up the numbers for a full-length album. (All I Ever Wanted was utterly brill though) I know I'm being harsh on them, but Phil Oakey is such a great popstar and a singer, that I am really angry at them for throwing a brilliant career away.

So forgive me if I'm not bursting with excitement when Human League say they are planning another album (like you wrote in another thread). Wake me up in 2010 please. Or are they building yet another studio?

Interestingly, most of my favourite bands are STILL recording. The main exception is Abba, but I wouldn't really want them to record a new album, since I'm 100% certain that it wouldn't come close to their last two albums.

I loved THompson Twins and ABC. ANyone ever heard of Babble? It was the band that Thompson Twins singer created with Alannah Currie, is ex-wife that used to be in Thompson Twins. Babble had great music too.

Id love to see the Talking Heads reunited with Byrne as frontman.

Would love to see ABC as well- they had some good, well written songs.

Orbital- just to see them live one more time.

Jimmy Somerville even released an album Home Again in 2004 i think.. also there was a single release this year..

Home Again was 2005. Didn't bother the charts much though. Same with the Bananas last album. I don't see either releasing anything for the forseeable future, which is a great pity...

I was really gutted when Orbital announced they were calling it a day; not only did they release four classic albums - 'Brown','Snivilisation', 'Insides' and 'The Middle Of Nowhere' - their live shows were just fantastic; I saw them play the Royal Albert Hall in 96 and it was incredible. When PSB segued 'Minimal' into 'Shopping' I thought what a half assed effort, compared to how Orbital used to weave things....

The new Paul Hartnoll album is fantastic; uses a real orchestra to devastating effect. On an Orbital forum there's been lots of discussion of how the split would reveal who actually did what, and on Pauls album we can see that lush melodies are down to him.

The Buggles and Queen, also I miss so much K I N O (russian band).
