In general, their reworkings of older songs tend to be inferior to the original versions - It's A Sin and In Private are prime examples of this - which is why I'd rather have them stay away from rerecording them. Having carefully picked out people to remix some classics would probably yield better results anyway.

Love the new sequencing & backing vocals on the Fundamental tour version of Where the streets have no name (I can't take my eyes off you). Get Neil & Chris in the studio with Pete Gleadall & Trevor Horn to re do a studio version, even if it's just to annoy Bono again!!!

You have a point, as far your examples are concerned. However, I do consider the Violence Hacienda Version superior to the original on Please. The tracks they did for the XFM radio session in 2003 were rather good, Opportunites in particular, which sounded great and resembled something of a electro remake of the bobby o version. Much darker than the Please version.

Erm, I can't think of any suggestions myself but I will say Paninaro is one of their worst songs and it's bad enough they've already done an update/remix of it. No more Paninaro!
