yet down the road you see these same guys shaking hands with them in pictures and being knighted and so on.

its not twisted. your putting the PSB in a box. I already gave you an example they have their music selling cars.

is there anything about chris, or especially neil that makes you think they are above some pompous event that has camera's that have a record feature?

You call accepting a knighthood 'down to earth' behaviour? The recipient is basically saying that they're better than 'normal' untitled citizens. I doubt they would go that far down the lost principles highway, even Neil.

well I meant not the knighting being down to earth, but the PSB being able to not worry about what certain people might think ....and by certain people I'm talking about the joemoz'es if they accepted.

I remember how some reacted way back when,when lennon said the beatles were bigger than jesus and some people who were once fans destroyed all their beatles CD's.

although I'm fairly sure on the plus side joe might not actually go so far as to use a steamroller as some fans of the beatles did in tennesee.

First off, I rather like the Queen, She is very popular here in the States. Every time she comes around the politicians in DC fall over each other trying to get within a few miles of her. She was here this year and everywhere she went tens of thousands came out to see her.


As for the boys getting a medal from the British Head of State, why not. They are after all British and in my opinion some of the best British musicians of the last century!! They should be recognised for all the beautiful music they have made.

After they win "Contribution to British Music award" at the Brits possibly, Neil will shuffle up with his zimmer frame to get his MBE.

Queen are a rock band............ I assume you are referring to The Queen? It's a bit like Pet Shop Boys and The Pet Shop Boys. One is popular pop electronic pop duo, the other are pop royalty.

I agree with Joemoz. They're always going back on what they said a few years ago. I bet they would accept it. And after seeing some of the people who were picked for this honour recently, I don't see why they wouldn't be offered.

Bono and Bob Geldof accepted and they're not even British! That was a bit controversial over here in Ireland.

There are quite a few Irish awardees. Terry Wogan, Terry Leahy (Chairman of Tesco), the err MD of BT. I think Terry Wogan may actually have the right to British citizenship - or is a British citizen - because he was born before 1948 when 26 counties of of Ireland became fully independent.

I believe Neil is on the record as being opposed to the UK honours system. I remember him being asked about it in a magazine interview when Bob Geldof's name was first being mentioned in connection with an honorary knighthood. This was quite some years ago, however.

I also have a vague recollection of either Neil or Chris making mildly disparaging remarks when Mick Jagger was knighted a few years back.

I didn't know Mick Jagger had a knighthood. Why? I find the Stones one of the most bland acts ever. Tuneless crap with a shreak of a voice thrown in. They all look like extra's from Fraggle Rock.

I think you're thinking of Sunday Night At The London Palladium (or whatever it was called). The Pets have never played a Royal Variety Show (Lord help us) although they did do that Prince's Trust thingy in Hyde Park around the time of Nightlife.

The boys are not fans of the British Royal Family so I doubt they would ever want such an honour.

I was thinking of that, yeah. Chris had a crazy jacket on and Jimmy Tarbuck presented it.

It´d be nice to see Neil and Chris knighted. But it´s just impossible.
Btw, talking about Jagger. Rolling Stones were performing here a couple of days ago.
