Hi Galata,
I am not arguing with you because I do not know the facts.
I do not know what this vid is, and I do not know about the Armenian event.
So I do not comment, as any clear thinking person should do.
But tell us some bad things your country has done ?
dVTB can do it and I can do it.
Show us you are mature and fair.
If you can not, then you are no different to American right wingers who deny everything.
Show us that you, ... are not just Turkish Likud.

Not much chance of that, all that happens is that anti-American stuff comes out. All very simple and sad really.gregf wrote:Hi Galata,

Dunno if this is locked yet..
What Galata is reacting hysterically to is the fact that after many years of WHATEVER THE HELL HAPPENED BACK THEN, Armenian-Americans have patiently waited their turn to speak to Congress, most of them aged, female, and in wheelchairs.
This is part of how democracy works. These ladies have waited patiently, for years in fact, for their turn to speak about WHATEVER HAPPENED THEN, in their own words, to the powers that be. That is their right.
What the OP gets wrong here is imagining that anyone in America ...how to put this respectfully..gives a damn, considering the raging war and fiddling, mad Nero we have at the helm, as well as a crashing housing market and an economically besieged middle class.
In short, it's quite narcissistic of anyone to think that this hearing means we have antagonism to Turkey, a good ally and a wonderful country. I'd like the OP to know, despite what you may read, this is a hearing that comes at a difficult time- the US does need Turkey at this crucial point- but these women have waited years to get their day in court.
I can assure you that this is not prime news; that Americans are not antagonistic to Turkey, or even aware (in the South) that you exist. Regrettable, I know. This is a formality, a hearing.
No need for histrionics. Believe me, everyone involved would rather be dealing with pressing issues rather than what happened 90 years ago.
Turks should not be offended: after all, you have nothing to hide, right? Best to you.

Galata, don't get me wrong - I like you, but what is the point of threads like these? We've had forum peace for a few weeks which is very welcome as far as I am concerned, then you post stuff up like this. I see absolutely no point other than to spark an argument.
This thread will be locked if (or should that read 'when'?) an argument starts.

We are not great about Human - Rights/Democracy..But I cant comapre my country with Australia or Germany or the others.
We did not do any shamefull things in History. I am very serious. We always stopped the crusaders and imperialists.
(sometimes we won /lost).. All Turks are proud of their history. That's different between Turkiye and the others.
About the genocide : We opened all Ottoman + Military archives..If we didnt trust our anhestors, Would we open it?
Why dont Armenia / Uk/ /America /France /Australia /Russia open ALL archives to Historians?Anyway....
All i want to say is : Historians can judge history.Politicians /Governments/Parliaments cant judge..
Now, You judge my country only listenning to armenians..Why dont you listen to us too?
To deschanel :
Why dont Armenians come to international courts to solve this problem? Congres is not a true place... How can American
congre judge my history?
I wonder, If Turkish grand assembly judge AMerica because of Genocide in Iraq/Afghanistan/Latin Countries/America (30 million Native americans)
what would you do?
Can you tell me, france killed 2 millions Algerians. Will you blame france because of this genocide? 30 million native american
used to live in america, now Their population is 20.000 (the source :American history :Allan Nevins)
to JSDOUVRES
You have Turkophobia..I can understand why...
To steve
I only wanted to disscuss:
1 - Can a gov/parliament Judge an another country`s history?
2 - I wanted to give some info about Armenian liars To this forum members. That's all..
Thanx...

I have absolutely nothing against Turkey, I have quite a few Turkish freinds and we get on very well, I even showed one of them some of your posts and he was very amused. How dare you accuse me of such a thing. Are you really such a small minded fool?
The thing that I do not like about you is that you constantly have a go at other countries and their history without the slightest thought of anything the other way.
Fine, you are proud to be Turkish, I am glad for you, just like I am proud to be English but I am willing to accept that my country has done some things in history that was not good but thankfully that is all in the past. Your posts are all very one sided opinions, and you always point a finger at America or whatever without accepting a word back.
As for the Armenia problem, well there seems to be a lot of support for what supposedly went on and I see no reason why people would make a false accusation against Turkey like they are. It would not make sense.
Personally I like most of us, have no idea what went on, but I hope that everything can be sorted out peacefully with no problems. There is no point making problems out of something nobody can change but I can understand why the Armenians would want the truth to be known and accepted if it is true. And I say if.
Just remember that just because people do not agree with you does not make them anti Turkish. Try to think a bit before making such ridiculous accusations.
I don't know how old you are but please grow up.

History Lesson for Galata
America also invented a great deal of the technologies in making and distributing music, as well as legal structures to see that artists get paid for their work. It was a hard fought struggle, actually. So listen up, here's the point of my lil history lesson for YOU:
I see that you still think nothing ,on a different website, of offering thousands of songs, artists' lifes work, as if you owned them. It's actually thievery, and piracy on a mass scale. I find it rotten and immoral, and the delight of freeloaders doesn't excuse your contempt fort artists rights.
So: America devised protections for artists having their music stolen. I see you stealing music all the time. Get off your righteous podium.
Suddenly interested in what the old ladies have to say. Interesting.

GalataPSB's posts never cease to amaze. In his eyes, Turkey can do no wrong, whereas all evils are attributable to the US. I really don't understand why people want to waste their time trying to debate with someone as narrow minded and blatantly nationalistic, so I am not going to do that myself.
Suffice it to say that - at least outside Turkey - it is almost impossible to find serious historians who do not consider what happened to Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire between 1915 and 1923 a genocide. Denying the existence of this genocide is akin to denying the Holocaust.

"Unprofessional? Us? Sir. Might I with due respect remind you that Mister Vandemar and myself burned down the City of Troy? We brought the Black Plague to Flanders. We have assassinated a dozen kings, five popes, half a hundred heroes and two accredited gods. Our last commission before this was the torturing to death of an entire monastery in sixteenth century Tuscany. We are utterly professional." - Mr Croup

The definition of holocaust is destruction or slaughter on a mass scale.

You honestly don't know the difference between "The Holocaust" and the word holocaust used in a generic sense?
If it was anyone else I'd assume your apparent ignorance was a cover for some malicious intent... okay, look. Go to Wikipedia, put holocaust in the search box on the left, press your 'Enter' key and see what it brings up.

All holocausts are destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, whether you start the word with a capital H or not. If you are talking about one holocaust, lets say Ukraine, where Stalin engineered the deaths of more than 12,000,000 million innocent people between 1932-1939, then you would say "the" holocaust created by the filthy murdering marxist, Stalin.Danny C wrote:You honestly don't know the difference between "The Holocaust" and the word holocaust used in a generic sense?
Go to Wikipedia, put holocaust
Wikipedia is a VOLUNTARY website created by anyone on planet earth with ANY information they care to upload, whether factual or NOT, so long as the americans who run it agree with the content.
An example of the amature wikipedia, im listening to a radio presenter (Ian Collins, Talksport) telling us that wikipedia says he's 40, when infact he's 50 today, and now he's just warned us of those who upload false material onto wikipedia.
