We had a neo-conservative Prime Minister here (in Oz) for 11 years.
Shameless use of racism to get the working class racists to vote for them.
Goading America to invade Iraq while doing deals with Saddam.
Unrestricted class warfare.
...

I know why you folk feel this way. :?

As a coal miner's daughter, I beg to differ.

Hailing from a mining suburb of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, I beg to differ.

She destroyed countless people's lives in countless ways. She was pure evil, unless you were middle class of course.

Like I said, point me to the grave and I'll bring my dancing shoes.

I'm no flag-waving republican but the way she treated the hunger-striking prisoners in the North of Ireland...

Only one of the 10 people who died in the hunger strkes had been convicted of murder, of one person. Therefore it's hardly accurate to accuse them of murdering scores of people.
I'm not saying they were angels, but let's be accurate anyway.

Right on. It's been interesting to see how the government tactic of labelling someone a "terrorist" to cover up or excuse horrible human rights abuses by our democracies was perfected by Thatcher and currently in use by Bush. Whether Long Kesh or Guantanamo, abusing prisoners and denying habeas corpus, indefinite detention and the like- Thatcher wrote the book on it.

I see that Neil Kinnock has voted. What a bitter ginger he is.

I find it laughable and quite telling that the petition creator uses Thatch's public 'support' for Pinochet as the No.1 prime example of why she should be denied a state funeral.

At a guess, if she were awarded one, I think it would be for service to her country as Prime Minister between 1979 and 1990 (the longest serving PM of the 20th century), not for having tea with an ex dictator after she'd left office and had started losing her marbles.
