 You're a bugger.[/quote]

I was waiting for the ''you still haven't beaten us for ages'' comeback, to shut me up.

Scotland were pish, although the referee didn't help matters. I had a feeling his appointment would be to our detriment. I also have a feeling that come tomorrow night we will already be thinking of what might have been.

It is when half a dozen of the squad are British-born, all bar one play in Britain and most people in Britain have some Irish ancestry ;)

Who's "us"? I'm from Liverpool, remember - there's more Irish people here than there is in Dublin  My dad is an Irish citizen, and I have some Scottish and Welsh in me too. That's why I don't understand animosity between England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales - people of the British Isles are such mongrels, they're probably just hatin' on themselves.

I wonder if they'll arrest the sniper who shot Joe Cole?

Daniele De Rossi I love you! Although Italy won, I still don't think we played a great game...
Oh and I was able to see a bit of the Germany-Finland...Klose is always a star!

I doubt it, he was shooting at Niko Kovac all game.

What a fantastic performance by England. Shock horror, a manager that picked a balanced side. Tactically spot on and completly outplayed a good side, who had never lost a home game. Obviously we will get the usual tabloids changing their spots and saying we will win the World Cup but credit where it's due, it was very impressive.

I don't know how the Belgian refferee, Michel, keeps on getting such big games. He was completely out his depth last night. He managed to miss a blatant penalty, a second red card, a foot that nearly took Terry's head off (a pity it never) and he also failed to stamp out Niko Kovacs' constant diving.

Well played the Scots. I only saw the first half and they did well to dig in because they were under a lot of pressure in the first 15 minutes. Cracking result that was.

I haven't seen how Russia played against Wales but it seems to me it will be very difficult to play. I think Arshavin, Pogrebnyak, Pavluchenko, Zyranov, Anyukov and etc... 7-0 is minimum I have thought, but if we could win only 2-1... It's not good.

i cant believe kirk broadfoot scored for scotland. He's still rubbish. Good result away from home. Saw the 2nd half of croatia - england. Commentators were so in awe of england that when croatia made it 3-1 with 13 mins to go there was not even a mention of them gettin back into it. Theo Walcott is some player. Imagine the performance being likened to the result in Munich...never saw that one coming!

Fingers crossed more than one of us qualifies for south africa, cant see past engerland. Us Scots will need to get our better players back to have a chance, wonder if that'll happen under Burley?

I'm humouring Dave.
I know the old saying. 'Liverpool is the capital of Ireland'.

Fantastic win for England last night. Admittedly, the sending off of Kovac, which was a harsh decision, did work heavily in our favour but even so, I can't remember the last time an England team made the extra man count in such a convincing manner - this was Croatia, not one of the minnows. A shame we couldn't do the same against Brazil in 2002.

Hopefully, Theo Walcott will go from strength to strength after last night. He seems an incredibly down to earth and articulate (for a footballer anyway) character so it shouldn't go to his head. And after Aaron Lennon and Shaun Wright-Phillips flattered to deceive, hopefully we now finally have a permanent successor to David Beckham on the right flank.

Nevertheless, there's still a long way to go so I'm not getting over-excited just yet.

Great result for Scotland too - hopefully they can kick on from here and push for a qualifying spot. A shame for Wales after pushing a very good Russia side all the way but hopefully their performance will give them some confidence.
