My sincere sympathies for everyone who's laid off, fired, or "made redundant", that quaint chilling phrase.

NYC has been a bloodbath too. Everywhere, in every field. It's horrible.

Hang in there though.. because this will pass. Panic spreads, mindless corporations react..it's herd behavior.

It's awful, but hang tough. Conventional thought changes like the weather. I realize it sounds like faint comfort, but after this terrible year, things have to change.. don't lose hope, or your self worth. Love the people around you, and don't give up hope. It can be hard to see the future positively, but things will work out in the end. If our grandparents survived Depressions and World Wars, we'll all muddle through somehow, and there really is light at the end of the tunnel. Don't ever doubt this.
A sincere merry Christmas to you, everyone.

Believe me, one day you're going to be looking back at this and it will seem so long ago, and probably laughing about it.

The best of wishes for next year!
A pretty good summing up there.
Wow! Finally we agree on something, unbelievable....

I've just had a call telling me that I'm reduced to 2 shifts a week totalling 12 hours!!

The bell has tolled, it is time to go job-hunting. :(

Dear '79, sorry to hear that, I hope pretty soon you find what you want. Btw, with your experience, you should come over here; guys like you make lots of $$$ at expensive clubs/resorts.

I feel very sad for you people. :(

The only redundant people in the world are the major part of companies CEOs and national political leaders.

I've found an interesting article in Times Online about Davos:

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/b ... 636248.ece

(all this lemming comparison is exactly what i think)

I also think that everything happens for a reason. I'm pretty sure of that.

My best wishes for you all.

I was made redundant in the last recession as the car dealership I work for folded. I sincerely hope that this time around I am safe, but given all the time I have had off sick in the last 8 or 9 months it unfortunately makes you think negative thoughts. I hope and pray I have a job to go back to if this drags on for another 3 months.

The only up side is that our department is currently running on nothing more than a skeleton staff due to people leaving and me being off. A year or so ago I worked with four others, the manager and deputy manager, now with me being off it's one person and the manager - the deputy is filling in the role of someone else who left.

Sorry to hear of all those here who have lost their jobs. I hope that in a way it is a good thing when you look back later and realise it was the break you needed to get a better job. That story is often one you hear and I hope it applies here.

There is a poster on nearly every bus shelter in London with a benefit cheat. Surely there needs to be a rethink.... this poster should be replaced by another with a picture of a banker encouraging people to Shop a Banker Today!
Hello my name is Neil Tennant and I'm Chris Lowe and we're of the Pet Shop Boys.
