The most unlikely winners actually end up winning the event. Last year, a horrible, dreadful song by Russia won. That's how it always goes.Firthy2002 wrote:Some rather good entries this year, UK has a boring ballad written by Diane Warren which probably won't win it.

I remember sitting in front of the tv last year, watching one of the semi-finals. I wrote down the best and worst songs and nearly all bad songs went through to the finals. Europe has no taste; a Dianne Warren ballad may just win.

She wrote the lyrics. The music is by none other than Andrew Lloyd Webber!Firthy2002 wrote:Some rather good entries this year, UK has a boring ballad written by Diane Warren which probably won't win it.

I would like to believe our Malena will do very well in ESC. She will certainly be the only opera star! But considering that the international jury gave the song only 1 point, maybe it won't do that well in Europe after all...

The danish entry is so appallingly bad that I won't even link to it. In my opinion it was the worst of the 10 mediocre (at best) songs in our national competition.

I haven't yet heard the song; I'll check it out later. But Andrew Lloyd Webber is certainly somebody who wrote some masterpieces. Interesting choice by the UK, and rather different from their entries in recent years. Gemini being the most memorableHillbilly wrote:She wrote the lyrics. aawww, N & C telling us to enjoy Eurovision on the twitter page...thank you I will!
I looove ESC and am not ashamed to admit it.
I think Norway is going to win. I predicted that even before Alexander Ryback had won the Norwegian final. I think Psb fans might enjoy the Albanian entry this year. It's one of my favourites this year...

Why have about half of the songs got the same vaguely Turkish-sounding backing track?
Prick up your ears.
Re: The inevitable Eurovision 2009 topic
Woo! look who was right. I think that was probably the best final ever. The winning song might just actually become a hit outside of the ESC fan circle, it already is top 10 in Sweden.

UK finished at #5, pretty respectable.
Norways was rubbish, I wanted to punch that guy's face.
(no offence to anyone from Norway, peace)
