I'm sorry for ranting, but if I think about this too much I'll start crying .. the images of the mass demonstrations all over Spain yesterday were just on the news and they brough tears to my eyes.. It was just... well, it was dignified.

And on a different note... what is this gonna do to the spanish elections?

Yup Des, you know I lived with a Spanish economist in London in 2001 for a few months and i remember the first thing i said to him was "im sorry Im an American but really, im rather well adjusted" He seemed skeptical at first, but we got on pretty well and had discussions over Belgian beer and some sausage in the kitchen some nights about Bush and all that. Most of the time i would be on the defensive, and as someone who neither voted for Bush nor supported him it was hard for me to answer his questions about why would someone be that incompetent and this and that.

Glenn- Bush is there out of egotism and power-need that that particular family has bourne for several generations now. Most men have that need. So he started that whole war just to finish up what daddy ( yeah Des, ive had that 'flaming liberal' thought myself a few times!) couldnt quite clean up- something about oh i dont know 'dynasty' a la the Kennedys. But Bush is also there as a figurehead for the highly conservative neo cons who thought this country was going down a bad path with Clinton. Who, frankly, i think was the greatest thing since LBJ. Bush doesnt run this country, all those faceless idiots in the background, who DO want to make money and DO want to have power are running it.

This world is f*cked.

I just hope the dead have gone somewhere better.

But this was al-Qaeda for sure - those godless bastards are the only people inhuman enough to do this.

lethe what is your avatar from? it reminds me of a great sci-fi cartoon I used to watch as a kid. I remember that the guy was a villian and had this tendancy at the end of just about everyshow to escape just as he was about to be captured.
