Open All Night is the album with the Siouxsie duet, right? I thought it was a superb album

Me too. Well, perhaps not suberb, because the trip hop influeces were a bit too obvious and a bit too late, but still it's among Marc's better outings. Personally my fave almond solo album is Tenement Symphony, though.

Well of course, Tenement Symphony is the greatest album the PSB never made. Trevor Horn's production is magnificent. Shame Marc doesn't like it though

I'd have to seriously disagree about Open All Night as well- it is a beautiful album, especially for late night listening.

He still performs the odd song from it. Not at these upcoming gigs though, I'm sure. It is amongst my favourite Marc albums as well, it really depends on your mood.

And the a-side – well, the five first songs – that Horn didn't produce is at least as good. Meet Me In My Dreams, Champagne, I've Never Seen Your face are all gorgeous songs.

Apparently Marc felt that Tenement Symphony was as a project far too much dictated by the record company. By hiring Trevor Horn and making him record so many cover tracks, I guess Marc felt like a guest star on his own solo album. But sadly I think that Marc is at his best when collaborating with other people: most of his solo albums prove that while he's a great singer and an excellent lyricist he's just not a good enough songwriter to make a thouroughly brilliant album on his own.

Since this thread was kicked off-- I havebeen searching out my Soft Cell and Marc albums.
I have not listened to some tracks for so long. Now that I have unearthed them, I can't believe I set them aside and over looked 'airing' them!
