Tarantino's 'problem' is that he favours style over substance. I love Reservoir Dogs but always thought that Pulp Fiction was too knowing for its' own good - plus I hate it when everybody likes something and Pulp Fiction was such a zeitgeist moment.

Tarantino is one of my favorite directors ever. Kill Bill vol. 2 is even better than vol. 1 - it's a pure masterpiece. Reservoir Dogs is in my Top 5 Movies list, but I never really got warmed up to Jackie Brown. It's great, but... oh, I dunno, it's too kind. Pulp Fiction is fabulous too.

Also, the movies in which Tarantino has made the script (or co-wrote it) to (True Romance, From Dust Till Dawn...) are great.

I didn't like Kill Bill vol.1 all that much, but vol.2 is awesome - it is a better movie in every conceivable way: better story, more appropriate humour, better dialogue, more substance, better acting, better and more believable fight scenes (rather than long stylistic and unrealistic fight scenes).

Do you really call the few fight scenes in vol. 2 believable? And I can't understand how can you separate the story into two. I think you missed the whole point of the films: vol. 1 was about what is most relevant to the whole story - action and revenge. Vol. 2 is about the story behind it all and about the characters. After watching vol. 1 you should have all these questions in your mind, like who is Bill? What connected the Bride and Bill originally? Why Bill did what he did? In this case 1+1=1. Vol. 1 is what makes vol. 2 so damn good.
These films aren't meant to be believable or deep or serious. Tarantino makes movies because he loves movies. All his movies are tributes to other movies and genres, like Kill Bill is to manga, Japanese Samurai-films, kungfu-movies, spagettiwesterns etc. Reservoir Dogs is based on Ringo Lam's film City on Fire. Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs both stylize 70's B-movies.
