Part two is amazing!!
Loved when they were talking about touring and one colleague says something like “do people wanna hear newer material or just the hits from the ‘80s?” and Neil actually brings up the Rylan interview and said a young guy talked about these three songs of ours, Flamboyant, Miracles and Minimal which are all from the 2000’s - so that really made an impression!!
He also said they’re touring in Australia, New Zealand and Japan AND he said “last year we toured North America with New Order but we’re going back to do our own show”!!!! 😲
Anyway, lots of good tidbits!!!

Yes, it's because they're basically old friends.
Yup. Maybe they should start a regular podcast. But ideally in an acoustically-treated room... 😀
Episodes 621 & 623! It's been going I think as a result of Covid since 2020 and used to be via Zoom so you got video as well. Loads on YouTube.

Yes - really exciting, would love to see them soon again here in NYC - they could do two night at the Beacon theater again :-)

They’d probably be disappointed to not play MSG again (as they did with New Order) but it might not be realistic. Also loved seeing them at Terminal 5!
(I find it challenging to really get up and dance along at The Beacon!)

Adam Clayton texting Neil if he had something about the rubbish outside which was printed in that interview is very funny

Another core memory unlocked: Neil talking about the shop on Carnaby St that had all the animatronic legs doing the Can-Can over the storefront.

I used to pilgrimage to Carnaby St once or twice a year from my provincial town because it was THE best place to buy badges and patches for my Harrington jacket. I vividly remember those legs - all jerky and out of sync.   I tried to find a picture or video but haven't had any luck yet.

I also remember standing outside the front of Lisa House (Smash Hits office) thinking "This is where the magic happens!" but I never had the guts to go in. Didn't think it was my place to do so, but I guess other people did it? Good times...

And interesting that they're friendly enough to text each other. Although Adam does come across as the most well read and 'arty' member of U2 from other interviews and podcasts I've heard him on so probably no surprise they may be friends.

That was great to listen to, but Neil doesn't half talk fast! Can anyone make sense of his story about Chris meeting Bowie backstage at the Brits. Is this our Chris he is talking about? Why would he be blushing if presumably they have spent a lot of time together in the studio?

Chris (Lowe) sees Bowie backstage at the Brits and says (too) loudly “I suppose I better go and say hello” (like it’s a bit of a chore). Bowie hears him say this, laughs to himself and says “hello Chris!”. It’s Chris’s friend that blushes.

The can-can legs were mentioned by him in a previous interview a few years back and it fascinated me as I remembered those legs from my first visit to London when I was nine. I thought they were in a shop on a different street (Oxford or Regent st?) but who knows.

Totally agree about music stopping being progressive in 93/94. I lived through it as a teenager. It's all been retro since 1994 and we are doomed to go through endless loops of the 60s to the 90s for ever like some kind of pop version of Black Mirror.

Definitely an interesting take, and not a compliment for Bobby O!
