Everyone seems to be lapping them up, they're everywhere. Fourty years on, nobody could have anticipated this sort of popularity.

Is the tea set dishwasher safe?
The most popular year since 1987?. I think you say too much.

Absolutely. You can't compare the 1980s to the 2020s. Back then, there were countless magazines, music shows, and forms of promotion that either no longer exist or aren't rentable in today's music scene. To understand success, you need to look at it through the lens of today's landscape. Maybe you're not as chronically online as my generation, but this year has BY FAR been their most popular in decades, not even Yes can compare.

For example, they've gone viral at least three times in the past year, have been featured on huge pop music social media accounts after the whole "feud" with Taylor Swift (like Popbase and Popcrave), and both Nonetheless and the Dreamworld film were widely promoted outside Europe. They even hit their highest streaming numbers ever in the last couple of months.

If you mean "mainstream" success, then it’s worth noting that even artists like Lady Gaga, who are as mainstream as it gets, aren't seeing the same chart dominance with recent releases. The music landscape is constantly evolving: new "It" groups are born every day as past ones fade. A more accurate comparison would be looking at how successful artists from the 1940s were in the 1980s.

Chart success isn't everything, especially now with new chart rules, streaming farms, and payola influencing results. It's easy for mainstream or younger artists to break records when their fanbases are chronically online and honestly insane. Comparing the Boys' success to a traditional idea of "mainstream" is unfair, especially when the concept of "mainstream" itself has changed so much.

They are undoubtedly more present in the consciousness than they’ve been in 30 years.

Films, TV shows, live concerts, TV adverts, tea sets…

They’ve moved beyond Radio 2 in ways that they’d previously not managed.

You love to see it. Drink it in. Two sugars, please.

Realiatically, how many new/young fans are they picking up from the extra promo ? Not that we should really care but I think a part of them does.

I was back in Ireland today. I heard What have I done to deserve this? in a pub and West End girls in a fast-food restaurant. Coincidence? I don’t think so. They are having “a moment.”

I have MTV, MTV 80's, MTV 90's, MTV 00's, MTV Hits, MTV Club, MTV live. None of them is going to broadcast the MTV European Music Award. I have to watched on Comedy Central.

IO have Paramount Plus installed as part of my phone package, so I think I can see for ''free''.

I'm a little sad that I won't be there in person. It's my working weekend.
