Not for me, or anyone who has the original fantastic sounding LP (got mine for £4 in the late 90s), but this does make sense for Parlophone. There's a huge market for vinyl among younger buyers who missed out first time around, and those who are getting into the PSB but may not want to shell out for multiple studio albums don't really have an affordable single item to buy. It puts PSB out of step with just about all their contemporaries - you can get multiple vinyl best-of collections, new, for New Order, Depeche, Erasure, Bowie, Madonna, Kylie, even Electronic, but the only available PSB vinyl collection is Smash, which is six discs and over £100. Arguably, a 2LP career-spanning set would have made more sense, like Bowie did, but Discography is such an iconic and flawless record that I think there'll always be a demand for it.
Also, is that a gatefold sleeve in the mock-up? Original is just two printed inners inside a regular cover.

I think this release makes a lot of sense, just like reissuing New Order’s Substance did.
I own an original pressing, but I do want this. In a way it’s the ultimate PSB record.

I actually think the most logical thing would have been to issue a 2LP pressing of Ultimate, which has surprisingly shown a bit of staying power chart-wise - as Drico said somewhere else, it's the only single-CD album that includes all the imperial hits AND Go West, which might be why. Wouldn't be dissimilar to New Order putting out a vinyl edition of Total even though it's been rendered out of date by Music Complete, for instance.

Yeah, unlike Discography, Ultimate has the six megahits. Sadly, it falls down after that by omitting the wry five, Opportunities, Rent, Can you forgive her?, So hard, and Drunk. For me, that makes it unlistenable and contemptuously incomplete. Without those, Ultimate loses too much of their genius.
At least Discography did exactly what it was supposed to do at time of release - the complete singles collection.
Of course, no single PSB compilation can really do them justice, artistically.
It'd be easy enough to put together a genuine one-disc greatest hits - but that would highlight how front-loaded their commercial success was. The tracklisting definitely wouldn't be chronological...
Maybe this will be Posthumously.

I’m thrilled since I’ve been on the hunt for Discography on vinyl for ages (EBay/Discogs) and it’s always super expensive! Now it’s new, affordable, remastered and blue! Exciting!

I'd be interested to know if thats a gatefold sleeve too - that could be a clincher in whether I take the plunge to buy it.

Sorry for the multi-posts -this could be notable or just tin-foil hat territory, but this seems to be in keeping with the blue coloured theme they've had going on for a while now in the merch.

Ramzy - this might answer your question.
There seems to be a standard release too, and the image looks to NOT be gatefold (kinda hard to tell white on white but there's no shadow to be seen).

Cheers Gabby. Another detail I hadn't spotted till just now is the addition of "1985-1991" to the subtitle, meaning the cover art is at least slightly different from the original.

The US one is manufactured by Rhino/Parlophone
the UK one is manufactured by PLG Uk catalog
