At the risk of being a bit unseemly commenting on this matter at this stage (because I haven't yet seen the typeset pages), I would estimate that the final result will be an *average* of about one song per page. To be sure, some songs will get more than one page, and other songs will get less than a full page, but I think that will probably turn out to be the average. That's the main reason the publisher and I agreed on splitting the book into two volumes: to avoid giving most of the songs far less attention than they deserve.

Meanwhile, thanks so much to everyone for your very kind and supportive comments about these upcoming books. I'm as excited as can be about it! I just wish they were being published even sooner. It will be hard enough for me to wait until the end of October for Volume 1. The end of next March for Volume 2 seems like an eternity. But, then again, at my age I suppose I shouldn't complain about the slow passage of time.
