However, I probably don't fully understand what you mean by 'spectacular'. What I do know is that, overall, I think Dreamworld is their least appealing stage design, especially during the boring first half an hour. I don't go for the visual aspect of the show; I go for the songs.

In fact, all the press and attendees have raved about the show, and one of their arguments was the spectacular light show, supporting videos, and, in short, everything that was seen on stage, aside, of course, from the musicians' excellent performance, Neil's singing, and, naturally, the arsenal of hits.

People who later went to the Movistar Arena concert said it wasn't the same and that it looked less spectacular than in Viña.

I love Pandemonium. But I couldn't have a more different opinion of Discovery, visually speaking. It was just half-naked people rubbing up against each other and acting silly on stage, including kicking a ball around. Light years ahead of DreamWorld. And what interests me most are the songs... Although in that respect, Discovery is also light years behind

In that case, additional or larger screens, as well as extra lighting, would enhance the technological aspect of the show. This has an effect in that the visuals are more easily visible to a live audience, especially from afar, and it makes it all appear less 'empty' to a television audience at home. Then again, it's still Dreamworld. However, it certainly has a positive effect on the atmosphere.

I watched the concert last night and although the footage at times seems a bit dark, the stage itself looks incredible. The multiple added screens at both sides and those other round screens suspended above the stage make it look awesome. Some of the shots with all the lights and visuals make it look like something like Tomorrowland, but with less foam and more glitter.

It's so kitsch and unique and wholesome when the concert stops and then the presenters come in and all the price giving thing starts. I'm not chilean, so I don't really know the culture of the Festival, but the presenters are taunting the audience to show if PSB deserve the awards. It's a very rare moment in their career to have them presented with two awards in such a manner and before such an enthusiastic audience. Both of their reactions are priceless during those minutes and both seemed genuinely thrilled.

Also, this footage shows Neil really sings live. But I think he has an SOS button or something that lowers his channel and rises the playback track when needed. It's very apparent during Heart, I think.

That's my two cents.

I totally agree with you. He looks spectacular. I think he looks best in your last photo.
I don't know how much "help" Neil has, but his voice sounds good. And that's one of the things that concertgoers highlighted the most. They commented that his voice sounded the same as it did 40 years ago.
Neil spends the entire concert smiling. He spreads good vibes to the audience.
At the awards ceremony, I couldn't help but laugh at Chris. What a character he is!

Well, his voice doesn't sound the same as it did 40 years ago. It has changed, which is normal.

The photographs look fine. This is what Dreamworld should always look like.

Heh, Neil leaned in HARD on this assignment - worked the crowd, learned a few phrases, knew how not to start a diplomatic incident. They both seemed very relaxed about going along with the protocol. I thought it was amusing when Karen leaned in and stage-whispered "It's my job to convince you" (to play West End Girls as one final number), as though there's supposed to be some artist holdout drama, but Neil was all over it "But we have one more song to sing!"

Chris was funny. He was grooving all through the show and I could see him thinking "Ooh! Fancy!" when he was given the Gaviota de Oro. The World Cup comment must have paid off - there's a photo out there of him rocking what might be a Chilean national team jacket today (and now I can't find it, dammit!!)

I'm Spanish and Spaniards and latin people are more enthussiastic, as Neil and Chris know and they have said several times. That's why sometimes we used to miss a more enthussiastic connection with the public on live concerts.

We know perfectly well how PSB use their deadpan expressions like part of their own genuine aesthetic. The one that have made them famous but I think sometimes they were too far, specially Chris. But we know he is a bit shy too so we understand why he feels more confortable that way.

So Neil is the one who is needed to have connection with the press and public in general but it wasn't easy the first year for him either. In fact, he didn't have that connection on first tours (MCMLXXIX, Performance), he started to create that a bit with the Discovery Tour and went further with the Nighlife, Release and Fundamental tours.

Pandemonium was another world and Neil already knew quite well how to be an almost perfect guest. Now he is really charismatic on stage for all kind of public. Much more enthussiastic than ever, so much more than before,

If PSB went to Viña del Mar in the 80's, they wouldn't probably get the same reaction. Now everything has changed for good.

So using the stage from Viña, the stage of Dreamworld, the enthussiasm of the public and the awards ceremony like part of a big event which is also a massive TV show live on a public TV, everything worked amazingly well.

The awards ceremony inside the concert was a real triumph and gave to the show something more. Like Chris said, it was like winning the world cup.

It’s certainly a career highlight compared to playing a half empty venue in Grimsby on Neil’s birthday. There have been so many amazing moments during their career so far and it’s just so lovely that they are still selling out venues all over the world. Personally nothing beats seeing them live at Wembley Arena in 1989, I honestly thought they wouldn’t turn up as I thought Chris couldn’t be bothered and when one more chance started it really was an amazing moment.


I hope this invigorates them to carry on for a bit longer realising they still have a huge audience all over the world.

Well, I can't think of any other music award show happening lately other than this one

(Not that Rosalia and Björk crushed it at the Brits)
