Personally I don't fully understand what this is. Theatre isn't really my scene.
I'm just curious if any PSB music will come about from this, that's all I care about.

I don't know if we'll get a soundtrack akin to My Beautiful Laundrette or the Closer To Heaven demos, or Musik, or anything at all.

I concur. I'm pretty indifferent about this unless there's some new PSB music associated with it.

The TV series was good, but not sure it really translates to a dance performance.

I can't help but get 'Gay! - A Gay Musical' from the IT Crowd episode vibes from this every time I hear about it.

Curious to know the approach of their executive-producers role. Anyone could give some light on that role in this kind of projects?
If they are involved in the songwriting as well, we could get a bunch of great dance tracks. Fingers crossed!

Think of them as “creative consultants”, rather than anything hands on. They will be artistic mentors, with a view on the ultimate vision for the show. Their role will be to help the creatives - and particularly the composer - achieve it.

Russell T Davies will likely see Neil and Chris as kind of custodians of the It’s A Sin brand, given he has chosen to name the show after one of their songs. Even though they aren’t writing or producing the music, he will want the score to be informed by the PSB aesthetic, their emotional tone and their lived experience. Having their name attached to the production helps give it an authenticity and will help it stay true to the era it is trying to capture.

Their input will likely be taken through irregular meetings. Maybe they will sit down with the composer and give ideas or notes on drafts.

When they were (uncredited) Executive Producers for Dusty’s album they asked for a sax part to be replaced by an Emulator. This sounds like a small thing but it will have helped the project remain truer to overall PSB vision and values, without them sitting at a keyboard or writing or performing on every track. When Neil was Executive Producer on Rufus Wainwright’s Release The Stars, again he helped with the edit - advising on what to include and what to take out.

Their presence here is a kind of artistic compass and their instincts around tone, atmosphere, sound, historical accuracy and authenticity will help guide the production so it feels rooted in the same world that inspired their songs.

For us as fans we can be sure that this will feel truly PSB-adjacent!

It’s a sin”, the new dance show adaptation of the award-winning Channel 4 series developed by Rambert and executive-produced by PSB and Russell T Davies, will embark on a major tour from February 2027.

After an exclusive first look at Mighty Hoopla festival last night, priority access to tickets for the 2027 dates in Manchester, Edinburgh and Cardiff is now available to Factory International members and those who subscribed to the show newsletter earlier this year.
