1 - Do you think the main single of the new album will be the first one or the second one? What would you prefer?
The first single will be the main one and I'm sure the album will follow within a couple of weeks.
2 - Do you think psb take too long time between albums with complete new material?
It used to bother me that each album took 3 years to come out, but now I'm not bothered.
3 - Would you like an instrumental song on this album (Chris Lowe style) or would you prefer a new Relentless with the new album?
A track along the lines of "The Samurai in Autumn" which has minimal lyrics would be ok. Instrumentals should only be used as b-sides and even then, only when they are really really good, and I don't think PSB have done any really really good instrumentals.
4 - what do you prefer an album with a similar sound or different kind of songs?
I don't think it matters too much. Nightlife and Bilingual were quite varied and I thought it worked really well.
5 - According to Neil, the new album will be more epic and electronic. Do you like the idea? (If you don't like it, what kind of style would you like?)
Sounds good to me, as long as they don't decide to stick to the now dated souding grrrr of Flamboyant, Jack and Jill Party etc...
6 - Do you think is interesting to include a song written by Diane Warren?
I hope that this track is good. PSB need some freshness in their music writing.
7 - Do you think PSB are looking for a commercial success in the new album?
Yes
8 - Do you think they will get over the results of Nightlife or do you think they can repeat a masive success (like very)?
I think thye'll probably get Nightlife style sales, but only if the first single is better than I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more and New York city boy.
9 - Do you trust in the production of Trevor Horn?
I'm not sure...
10 - Would you like the production of Trevor Horn in the whole album or not? (If you answer is not, tell us the name of other producer or producers you would like to make the production of the rest of the album)
I'd like them to work with several producers as they did for Bilingual and Nightlife. I'd like to see what happens if they were to work with one of the huge pop producers that are around at the moment - maybe Richard X or Xenomania.
11 - Would you like a duet with other artist? (if you answer is YES, tell us who)
No duets, thanks. I don't mind PSB producing for other artists, but I'd prefer an album with only Neil (plus the occaisional female back-up singer)
12 - How many songs would you like to be included on the album and how many do you think will be included?
12 & 12
13 - Would you like they make a cover of one song from other artist?
No thanks.
14 - Would you like a sad album or something fun?
A little bit of both. Upbeat sounds with downbeat lyrics work well.
15 - Do you prefer spectacular productions or something more simple?
Again, a little bit of both.
16 - If you have to choose only one option, what do you prefer: extended versions or mix versions?
I assume you mean for a single release - in that case, I prefer someone else to have remixed the track rather than PSB's own extended version.
17 - Would you like another change in their look for the new album?
I like the way they looked to promote PopArt - but without Chris's awful hair.

1 - Do you think the main single of the new album will be the first one or the second one? What would you prefer?
The second one - if there will be 2 singles
off the album. If not: what else to choose?
Let's hope not ...
2 - Do you think psb take too long time between albums with complete new material?
No. I always prefer quality to quantity ...
3 - Would you like an instrumental song on this album (Chris Lowe style) or would you prefer a new Relentless with the new album?
I pick the second option. :D
4 - what do you prefer an album with a similar sound or different kind of songs?
A similar sound if it's electro. Different
if not (hoping for 1 or 2 electro ones in
between then).
5 - According to Neil, the new album will be more epic and electronic. Do you like the idea? (If you don't like it, what kind of style would you like?)
Yes, definately!
6 - Do you think is interesting to include a song written by Diane Warren?
No.
7 - Do you think PSB are looking for a commercial success in the new album?

No, I think they never did, think of their
financial losses with the tours, especially
the spectacular 'Performance' ...
I think they are too much artists and do
not care success muchly. Which is good.
8 - Do you think they will get over the results of Nightlife or do you think they can repeat a masive success (like very)?
I have to admid, I don't believe they won't
be able to tie up to former successes (hits
etc.).
9 - Do you trust in the production of Trevor Horn?
Yes as he's been (and I think still is) a ca-
pable producer (thinking of former works
with PSB except from TSOTAS which was
some kind of 'joke' or something but not
bad at all, FGTH, Yes, ABC and The Art Of
Noise ...). Trevor Horn is one of the best
pop producers ever, imho.
10 - Would you like the production of Trevor Horn in the whole album or not? (If you answer is not, tell us the name of other producer or producers you would like to make the production of the rest of the album)
Yes, see above. He would kind of 'guarantee'
a bundle of quite similar quality pop songs ...
11 - Would you like a duet with other artist? (if you answer is YES, tell us who)
Mylène Farmer. Seriously ...
12 - How many songs would you like to be included on the album and how many do you think will be included?
13. It's a nice number. It's magical. It's not
too much and not too little for an album. The
former ten (or ten plus one) are too short to-
day.
13 - Would you like they make a cover of one song from other artist?
Yes, but I can't think of any good song to co-
ver at present.
14 - Would you like a sad album or something fun?
Oh no, not 'Release' again!
15 - Do you prefer spectacular productions or something more simple?
I have no preference.
16 - If you have to choose only one option, what do you prefer: extended versions or mix versions?
Mixes. Too (much) extended versions become
more and more boring every further minute.
Plus, I find it very interesting to know how
other artists like mixers (in case PSB don't
mix all by themselves of course) would (re)-
interpret their songs.
17 - Would you like another change in their look for the new album?
Yes, yes, yes ! I always liked their funny
costumes, especially their Nightlife ones!

Assuming there is a "main" single, I think and hope it will be the first one.
nickname wrote:2 - Do you think psb take too long time between albums with complete new material?
Not really.
nickname wrote:3 - Would you like an instrumental song on this album (Chris Lowe style) or would you prefer a new Relentless with the new album?
No instrumentals, please.
nickname wrote:4 - what do you prefer an album with a similar sound or different kind of songs?
I tend to prefer albums with a similar, coherent sound.
nickname wrote:5 - According to Neil, the new album will be more epic and electronic. Do you like the idea? (If you don't like it, what kind of style would you like?)
I like electronic, and I love epic, so it sounds good.
nickname wrote:6 - Do you think is interesting to include a song written by Diane Warren?
Definately. She's a great song writer.
nickname wrote:7 - Do you think PSB are looking for a commercial success in the new album?
Of course, but whether they'll get it is a different matter altogether.
nickname wrote:8 - Do you think they will get over the results of Nightlife or do you think they can repeat a masive success (like very)?
I don't think they'll ever have a massive success again. But then again, if they actually produced a really good pop album (which they haven't done since "Very"), the album might actually be moderately successful.
nickname wrote:9 - Do you trust in the production of Trevor Horn?
Certainly. He's my all-time favorite producer.
nickname wrote:10 - Would you like the production of Trevor Horn in the whole album or not? (If you answer is not, tell us the name of other producer or producers you would like to make the production of the rest of the album)
I think it would be wise to include some more contemporary pop producers. Richard X perhaps?
nickname wrote:11 - Would you like a duet with other artist? (if you answer is YES, tell us who)
It could be interesting, but it should be with someone who's relevant to today's music, not some 80's icon.
nickname wrote:12 - How many songs would you like to be included on the album and how many do you think will be included?
10 good songs would suffice.
nickname wrote:13 - Would you like they make a cover of one song from other artist?
Yes. I think most of their covers have been brilliant, the obvious exceptions being the dreadful "If love were all" and the forced production mess that is "Somewhere".
nickname wrote:14 - Would you like a sad album or something fun?
I'd prefer melancholy with a sense of humor.
nickname wrote: 15 - Do you prefer spectacular productions or something more simple?
Spectacular productions, which Trevor Horn does quite well, incidentally.
nickname wrote: 16 - If you have to choose only one option, what do you prefer: extended versions or mix versions?
I have no particular preference.
nickname wrote: 17 - Would you like another change in their look for the new album?
No. The whole costume thing is just too camp and pointless.

We have assassinated a dozen kings, five popes, half a hundred heroes and two accredited gods. Well, I'm going to answer the questionnaire too.

1 - Do you think the main single of the new album will be the first one or the second one? What would you prefer?

Probably, it will be the first one but I would prefer the second one.

2 - Do you think psb take too long time between albums with complete new material?

Yes, I think so. I prefer less quantity and more quality.

3 - Would you like an instrumental song on this album (Chris Lowe style) or would you prefer a new Relentless with the new album?

A new album like Relentless (although I'm not a huge fan of this kind of songs really)

4 - what do you prefer an album with a similar sound or different kind of songs?

Different

5 - According to Neil, the new album will be more epic and electronic. Do you like the idea? (If you don't like it, what kind of style would you like?)

I love when they say it'll be epic (much more than when they say it'll be electronic). I'm very happy for that.

6 - Do you think is interesting to include a song written by Diane Warren?

I think she is a good song writer and Numb is not a bad song (at least the demo).

7 - Do you think PSB are looking for a commercial success in the new album?

Absolutely

8 - Do you think they will get over the results of Nightlife or do you think they can repeat a masive success (like very)?

Probably, first option. But it depens on Pet Shop Boys, Trevor Horn and...... Radio 1  (they have to include the songs on their playlist)

9 - Do you trust in the production of Trevor Horn?

For me, the best ever song is Left To My Own Devices. I love this song and this one is the song because of I became a fan. So I confide in him.

10 - Would you like the production of Trevor Horn in the whole album or not? (If you answer is not, tell us the name of other producer or producers you would like to make the production of the rest of the album)

Well, 5 or 6 songs produced by him would be nice. Anyway, I would like to see a production of Harold Fatemeyer, Julian Mendelson and any new producer.

11 - Would you like a duet with other artist? (if you answer is YES, tell us who)

Michael Jackson, Madonna, George Michael, U2....sometimes the dreams come true.

12 - How many songs would you like to be included on the album and how many do you think will be included?

They probably will include 10 or 12 as ever. Anyway for me, 15 songs will be a good number.

13 - Would you like they make a cover of one song from other artist?

Man in the mirror of Michael Jackson, it could be fun.

14 - Would you like a sad album or something fun?

Something fun and some songs with orchestral arregments. But anyway no more sad songs like the Release ones.

15 - Do you prefer spectacular productions or something more simple?

Spectacular songs, I missed too much.

16 - If you have to choose only one option, what do you prefer: extended versions or mix versions?

Exended versions

17 - Would you like another change in their look for the new album?

Yes, we'll see a new invention

Thanks to everyone who is answering this questionnaire

1 - Do you think the main single of the new album will be the first one or the second one? What would you prefer?

The first one. They only get one shot at a proper comeback single. if the first one flops, nobody is willing to give the second one a chance.

2 - Do you think psb take too long time between albums with complete new material?

Not really.

3 - Would you like an instrumental song on this album (Chris Lowe style) or would you prefer a new Relentless with the new album?

No instrumentals on the album please. Relentless 2 would be nice but not necessary.

4 - what do you prefer an album with a similar sound or different kind of songs?

Don't really care. Depends on the quality of the songs.

5 - According to Neil, the new album will be more epic and electronic. Do you like the idea? (If you don't like it, what kind of style would you like?)

Sounds good to me.

6 - Do you think is interesting to include a song written by Diane Warren?

Die! Die! Die!

7 - Do you think PSB are looking for a commercial success in the new album?

Of course.

8 - Do you think they will get over the results of Nightlife or do you think they can repeat a masive success (like very)?

We the loyal fans are all they have and will ever have. Sad but true.

9 - Do you trust in the production of Trevor Horn?

Could be a good choice. His recent track record is very unimpressive though.

10 - Would you like the production of Trevor Horn in the whole album or not? (If you answer is not, tell us the name of other producer or producers you would like to make the production of the rest of the album)

Half of the album would be nice.

11 - Would you like a duet with other artist? (if you answer is YES, tell us who)

Not really.

12 - How many songs would you like to be included on the album and how many do you think will be included?

12 – 12

13 - Would you like they make a cover of one song from other artist?

I have nothing against PSB doing covers, but I hope they are not going to take some old musical tune again and camp it up to hi-nrg overkill. If they can think of some other way of making interesting interpretations of other people's songs, then why not.

14 - Would you like a sad album or something fun?

Everything they do drips with melancholy anyway.

15 - Do you prefer spectacular productions or something more simple?

Simpler this time please.

16 - If you have to choose only one option, what do you prefer: extended versions or mix versions?

Remixes.

17 - Would you like another change in their look for the new album?

Don't really care.

1 - Do you think the main single of the new album will be the first one or the second one? What would you prefer?
the second single - the first single should just be a taste...

2 - Do you think psb take too long time between albums with complete new material?
It seems like it, but i can wait ! Its always worthwhile...plus the backcatalogue keeps me entertained.

3 - Would you like an instrumental song on this album (Chris Lowe style) or would you prefer a new Relentless with the new album?
A new Relentless packaged with the album. Bliss.

4 - what do you prefer an album with a similar sound or different kind of songs?
Probably a similar vibe...

5 - According to Neil, the new album will be more epic and electronic. Do you like the idea? (If you don't like it, what kind of style would you like?)
I adore the idea. Bring it on !!

6 - Do you think is interesting to include a song written by Diane Warren?
Yeah, or even use it as a b-side.

7 - Do you think PSB are looking for a commercial success in the new album?
nope.

8 - Do you think they will get over the results of Nightlife or do you think they can repeat a masive success (like very)?
hey, Nightlife IS my fave PSB album. This question is n/a.

9 - Do you trust in the production of Trevor Horn?
Of course !

10 - Would you like the production of Trevor Horn in the whole album or not? (If you answer is not, tell us the name of other producer or producers you would like to make the production of the rest of the album)
The PSB production is fine with me.

11 - Would you like a duet with other artist? (if you answer is YES, tell us who)
Yeah, maybe someone like Dido or Annie Lennox.

12 - How many songs would you like to be included on the album and how many do you think will be included?
probably 12. Both ways.

13 - Would you like they make a cover of one song from other artist?
Yeah, their version of Cicero's "That Loving Feeling" would be brilliant.

14 - Would you like a sad album or something fun?
either way - I think all their albums have a mix of both...

15 - Do you prefer spectacular productions or something more simple?
I think their outlook in the past has been fine.

16 - If you have to choose only one option, what do you prefer: extended versions or mix versions?
Extended versions.

17 - Would you like another change in their look for the new album?
Yeah, but it doesn't have to be too kooky.

1 - Do you think the main single of the new album will be the first one or the second one? What would you prefer?
If there is a main single then it must be released first. PSB can't afford to mess around, they have to put their best foot forward.
2 - Do you think psb take too long time between albums with complete new material?
No. Maybe not enough time. If this was their first album since Nightlife there'd be more anticipation and its release would be more of an event, plus any damage done by Release never would have happened.

As for all the other questions about producers, style of music, collaborations, lyrical theme, cover versions, length of album, etc I don't think it matters as long as the songs are good and they don't do anything too embarrassing with their image.

1 - Do you think the main single of the new album will be the first one or the second one? What would you prefer?

I would prefer it to be the first one they need to make a statement of some kind that "here we are, we're releasing a new album"..a blah single a la "home and dry" serves no purpose.

2 - Do you think psb take too long time between albums with complete new material?

no, not really...compared to other groups at least they're always doing something.

3 - Would you like an instrumental song on this album (Chris Lowe style) or would you prefer a new Relentless with the new album?

an instrumental would be fine as long as its an additional track, and isn't replacing the spot of a potential non-instrumental track

4 - what do you prefer an album with a similar sound or different kind of songs?

different kinds of songs...but with a similar theme throughout...make any sense?! ;)

5 - According to Neil, the new album will be more epic and electronic. Do you like the idea? (If you don't like it, what kind of style would you like?)

its EXACTLY what i want.

6 - Do you think is interesting to include a song written by Diane Warren?

no. i prefer it to only have neil/chris songs.

7 - Do you think PSB are looking for a commercial success in the new album?

probably..but not more than they can expect. they won't tailor it to suit the american idol crowd ;)

8 - Do you think they will get over the results of Nightlife or do you think they can repeat a masive success (like very)?

anything is possible...but it seems unlikely they can relive the very days...the music world is different now..and not so appreciative of psb's kind of music. when very came out 'dance' music was "in"...

9 - Do you trust in the production of Trevor Horn?

yes...why not

10 - Would you like the production of Trevor Horn in the whole album or not? (If you answer is not, tell us the name of other producer or producers you would like to make the production of the rest of the
album)

i don't know!

11 - Would you like a duet with other artist? (if you answer is YES, tell us who)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

12 - How many songs would you like to be included on the album and how many do you think will be included?

12...i'm greedy. i want the full package. + a possible 13th instrumental track.
but realistically i'll say 11 tracks all inclusive.

13 - Would you like they make a cover of one song from other artist?

no..maybe for a b-side

14 - Would you like a sad album or something fun?

a combination of both...sad but uplifting :) something to suit any mood...and nothing ridiculous.

15 - Do you prefer spectacular productions or something more simple?

depends on the song...say "can you forgive her" vs. "it always comes as a suprise"..but after release i think i'm leaning towards spectacular!

16 - If you have to choose only one option, what do you prefer: extended versions or mix versions?

extended versions..in general i'm tired of remixes that sound nothing like the song...if a song is good then i don't even need remixes to start with.

17 - Would you like another change in their look for the new album?

well...i don't think they should. i'd prefer if they stick to a "classic" look.....but then again costumes are directly proportional to how good the music is so who knows ;) but please, chris, no blonde hair....please? ..how about chris in a suit ;)

1 - Do you think the main single of the new album will be the first one or the second one? What would you prefer?

The first one - they can't release two singles preceding an album these days.

2 - Do you think psb take too long time between albums with complete new material?

No.

3 - Would you like an instrumental song on this album (Chris Lowe style) or would you prefer a new Relentless with the new album?

No. Very-Relentless was beautiful; almost too perfect.

4 - what do you prefer an album with a similar sound or different kind of songs?

I just want lots of synths.

5 - According to Neil, the new album will be more epic and electronic. Do you like the idea? (If you don't like it, what kind of style would you like?)

Yes!!!!!

6 - Do you think is interesting to include a song written by Diane Warren?

It will end up as a Pet Shop Boys song.

7 - Do you think PSB are looking for a commercial success in the new album?

Yes - but it's not as easy as it was or as difficult as it could be.

8 - Do you think they will get over the results of Nightlife or do you think they can repeat a masive success (like very)?

No - they don't get the necessary radio play any more.

9 - Do you trust in the production of Trevor Horn?

Yes.

10 - Would you like the production of Trevor Horn in the whole album or not? (If you answer is not, tell us the name of other producer or producers you would like to make the production of the rest of the album)

No - Phil Spector lol

11 - Would you like a duet with other artist? (if you answer is YES, tell us who)

Only if the song is right - What have I? rather than In denial.

12 - How many songs would you like to be included on the album and how many do you think will be included?

I want a mad concept album so 24.

13 - Would you like they make a cover of one song from other artist?

Only if it's Moon River.

14 - Would you like a sad album or something fun?

Both - tragic beauty.

15 - Do you prefer spectacular productions or something more simple?

Spectacular - Release is so 2002.

16 - If you have to choose only one option, what do you prefer: extended versions or mix versions?

Extended. Oo-er.

17 - Would you like another change in their look for the new album?

I'm hoping Neil in particular has some surgery and goes for the Jackie Stallone look.

1 - Do you think the main single of the new album will be the first one or the second one? What would you prefer?

They need their first single to be huge for this album, or it will fritter away like Release....

2 - Do you think psb take too long time between albums with complete new material?

I would say they are about on par with other 40-50 year olds that still release music....

3 - Would you like an instrumental song on this album (Chris Lowe style) or would you prefer a new Relentless with the new album?

I'd prefer a relentless-type album separate from their "main" album. I'd even venture to say that if they released it under some other name, it would be even better...

4 - what do you prefer an album with a similar sound or different kind of songs?

It depends on the "different kind of songs". I'm of the old school that believes that an album should be cohesive amongst itself and sound good in the context that it is in. However, if they decided to put out an album of singles, I would hope that what they put out isn't as radical and "across the board" as Bilingual.

5 - According to Neil, the new album will be more epic and electronic. Do you like the idea? (If you don't like it, what kind of style would you like?)

If by epic they mean big, grand songs a la Introspective, sure. However, when trying to get grand, bands sometimes get too big. See Oasis' Be Here Now or Coldplay's X&Y (or even A Rush of Blood to the Head if you are so inclined). I would rather they had 6-8 quality tracks that get me excited than 12 half-arsed tracks that are thrown together. Quality over quantity...

6 - Do you think is interesting to include a song written by Diane Warren?

I wasn't too excited by the demo I heard of DW singing it. Even with PSB dressing it up, I don't think it will be all that great. I'd rather they write their own songs...

7 - Do you think PSB are looking for a commercial success in the new album?

No. They proved it with Release that they aren't looking to be commercially successful, but putting out the music they want to put out. If commercial success was what drove them, they'd have split up long ago...

8 - Do you think they will get over the results of Nightlife or do you think they can repeat a masive success (like very)?

No. 13 year olds don't like listening to 50 year old, unattractive men that their parents may have listened to sing about gay love.

9 - Do you trust in the production of Trevor Horn?

I'd rather he do all or most than have 4-5 people produce an album.

10 - Would you like the production of Trevor Horn in the whole album or not? (If you answer is not, tell us the name of other producer or producers you would like to make the production of the rest of the album)

If he didn't do it all, I'd rather that N+C did it all.

11 - Would you like a duet with other artist? (if you answer is YES, tell us who)

Hell no. They tried it with In Denial, and it failed miserably.

12 - How many songs would you like to be included on the album and how many do you think will be included?

See above- If need be, I'd rather like to see 6-8 tracks if they were big, quality tracks than 12 filler tracks. As long as there is 1 maybe only 2 filler tracks, I'd be happy with whatever they put out...

13 - Would you like they make a cover of one song from other artist?

Only if they do it as a duet, and I don't want a duet. In other words- NO.

14 - Would you like a sad album or something fun?

They are due a fun one...

15 - Do you prefer spectacular productions or something more simple?

Spectacular, thank you.

16 - If you have to choose only one option, what do you prefer: extended versions or mix versions?

Whatever is better. I tend to love extended's, but sometimes they are just overly bloated (seeing Being Boring's extended version)...

17 - Would you like another change in their look for the new album?

Listen to the audio commentary to I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more on the PopArt DVD. It sounds pretty obvious to me they are just going to stick to smart looking, posh clothing. I think the wigs have been put away....

Richard X would be brilliant, although I'd settle for any number of people. I'd love to hear something really dark and cold like the artist Colder could make with them. Although that may just alienate the audience.
Or it may just alienate terrorists

Were you onto something? :P
