Well, I believe it can be true because I suppose they are not going to invent this declaration too:

It could means nothing but I think if you have a section in a news agency (although it talks about gossip), you must try to tell true things. Probably you can tell something that it's not really true which is a bad thing but not so horrible.
The problem is when you are talking about a declaration of Robbie. Wich is more grave because you are inventing something that he didn't say trying to support your own rumour.

So I prefer to believe it's true because if it's not, the journalist who has told the rumour is a absolute fraud.

Being a "fraud" doesn't normally stop British journalists....

I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say that I believe its true.

Its a credible rumour. We know Robbie is a huge fan of theirs.

Sky news isn't the best example of the news media in Britain and although I accept it doesn't get most things wrong, it has made many errors of judgment which in my view doesn't constitute a fine example of television news media.

Robbie, is indeed a 'star' as you put it, which is where his status begins and ends. PSB pride themselves on their music, and although I thik Neil would enjoy star status to some extent, and Robbie's influence may be harmless, I doubt fans of Robbie would check out the Boys catalogue. They may be more likely, but this is thin speculation.

From what I gather his album is nearing release and there's been no mention of the Boys collaboration. Wishful thinking, perhaps?

Fair points here and it sounds as if you are someone who works in, or with, the media as indeed I do. I see your point re Murdoch and his clan although feel that it is more of an editorial shadow hanging over Sky rather than any "hands-on" control - which is how I took your first post on the subject. No different fromthe differing political leanings displayed by newspapers depending on their ownership etc I guess.

I apologise for perhaps reading too much in to this.

On the Robbie subject I was especially prompted by some research I read over the weekend talking about the growth in sales (in the UK) of 'rock' music and the corresponding fall in 'dance' music sales (their pigeon-holes - not mine) and also that the mid-40s are the biggest purchasers of music in the UK these days. It struck me that a great many people within this age bracket will probably purchase Robbie's album as a 'must have' - like Dido, Moby etc etc etc. A fair few of these folks may remember PSB from back in the day and be prompted to go out and purchase. Whether it would have any impact on Robbie's younger audience is however clearly debatable!!

Another fair comment in truth - although again a sweeping statement!

I see The People was successfully sued by David Beckham last week for printing a story they admitted was completely untrue. It is however a little more unlikely that Sky News would attribute a quote directly to Robbie and make it up - usually they would use the "a source close to" or "an insider said" to get around a fabrication.

You only have to read the sports pages to see this in all it's glory every day of the week!

Well, if they DO collaborate, and they come up with anything as good as No Regrets, which is so PSB sounding, then I'll be happy

Finally tracking Neil down, he has confirmed that they are NOT working with Robbie, unfortunately. As I type this note out, I am listening to 'No Regrets' and its just such a fantastic melody on all levels!! Anyway...its all a sad rumor!
