I think Results is a decent enough album - worth listening to if you're a fan of PSB, but let's be honest: It just isn't up to scratch when compared to their own albums. "I want you now", "Losing my mind" and "Don't drop bombs" are probably my favourites, but each of these would be a weaker track on a regular PSB album (pre-1999 I guess).

Personally, I don't think PSB and Liza Minelli were a very good match. Her style is too slow and melodramatic for them, and their songs end up sounding a bit cheap in her universe. As far as I know she hasn't used any of their arrangements in concerts afterwards either?

Generally speaking, the whole concept of an active band writing songs and albums for others is rarely a success - the band usually won't give up their best song ideas for such a project. This album seems to be an example of this - there are many more in PSB's career (Confidential, Falling, Love Life to name but a few). If they need to be given away, it would be better to choose a lesser known artist for whom any song penned by PSB is an honour and guaranteed to attract attention.

Oh and on the topic: If there was love is a slightly above average song on a below average album.

All except 'Twist in my sobriety', 'Love Pains' and 'Losing my mind' as far as I remember. 'Tonight is forever' and 'Rent' were already released of course.

Also, 'I can't say goodnight' was apparently one of the first songs Neil and Chris wrote together...I'm glad they got better at it

lovepains gets really good near the end with the layered vocals and horn sounds and pads.
