Epic orchestral songs versus electro pop songs

On what side does "Always On My Mind" fall? It seems to me both epic and electro pop song- a nice combination, isn't it?

Always on my mind, i think, is 'electronic pop', but i wouldnt call it 'electro' as it doesnt have that kind of sound.

I mean, you wouldn't call SAW-era kylie 'electro' or 'epic', would you?

To me, PSB have most of the time been epic & electro, I mean c'mon even the Camp songs are Quite Epic in a Kitsh way... Also the've alway been mostly electronic.

So , I'm kind of expecting something of the kind. A song Like I'm not scared is just simply, a masterpiece.

I think that the PSB a heading to deliver some of the're best work yet. I really mean it... look at everything from just after the release of Release...
and now the soundtrack of BP...

Well anyway to me... I quite looking forward 2 that new album (maybe a bit 2 much but...hey...)

I also think that the market is ready for a new PSB album (PSB are quite beggining to get the critic's and mainstream audience "sign of aprouval")

Yes, a combination of epic and electro is so brilliant, and that's what I'd ideally like to hear from the new album. I think songs that fit into that sound combination perfectly are Somewhere, Left to my own Devices, and Discoteca (new version).

I wouldn't mind if they forgot about orchestral arrangements for a while. Acccording to recent reports, it's a 'back to roots' album and very electronic.

I think, they are going to combine both categories but some people prefer the first one more than the second one and vice versa.

Perhaps its because I'm stuck in the office late and annoyed with work today, but this thread is irritating me somewhat.

Firstly, its based on an incorrect assumption.

The Pet Shop Boys have never stated that the forthcoming album will be 'orchestral'. They have stated the opposite, that it is purely electronic - with the sole exception of Numb which does feature an orchestra.

Secondly, all the songs will have an electro feel to them - again as the Boys have already stated.

Its just that some will be more 'pop' and others more 'epic' - but they are all electro of a form.

I hope that makes sense.

One example: Closer to heaven (epic) - Radiophonic (electro), I think it's something like that.

If Trevor Horn is on it, it's very difficult to think Numb will be the only one song with orchestral arregments.

But probably I have made a mistake. The problem is if the whole album is electronic and nothing else (except Numb), what's the difference between epic and electro?

Its a Sin is epic and doesnt feature an orchestra - thats what they mean by 'epic'.

I'd take what the PSB say with a certain degree of scepticism (for want of a nicer word), the album isn't due to be released until next spring and they are indecisive and I've often found their descriptions to be a little off the mark
