Se A Vida E is sad. I Wouldn't Normally Do... and One In A Million are probably the only 'happy songs' they've ever done.

Se a vida e is about a depressed person.

I wouldnt normally is about someone who is normally, or traditionally, depressed and reserved, and momentarily finds happiness and goes a bit loopy.

And, er... what about the other 36 Pet Shop Boys singles?

Its a simple fact that Pet Shop Boys are not known for writing happy songs, and that the VAST majority of their songs have depressing themes.

Anyway, I'm not going to discuss this anymore with people who are clearly lacking the intellect to 'get it'.

Anyway, we know nothing about this album other than PSB don't seem to know what they want this album to sound like.

As for reserving Numb, they clearly just thought that Flamboyant was better and changed to that as the second new track at the last minute. They always go with what's the best they have at any given time and PopArt was a bigger priority for them at the time of release than an album they were about to take almost 3 more years to release.

I'm going to tell you that "Numb" is much better than Flamboyant, at least for me (listening the Diane Warren demo). I'm sure the definitive version of that is amazing.
And I'm sure PSB think Numb is amazing and they prefer their best songs in their "standard" albums (not in compilations). They choose good songs for their compilations (For example: Dj Culture and Was is worth it?), but these singles are not as good as the singles of the "standar" albums.
Probably, Numb is one of the reasons why they have worked with Trevor Horn again ("produced by" live show apart).

Zeus must be feel threatened at the moment!!! If electro-pop is on the menu, then I'm sure its going to be a good album. I agree that Neil has made some strange comments regarding what he sees as their greatest songs but atleast he hasn't said that 'Transparent' was going to be included on 'PopArt' until the last minute or that 'Nightlife' was originally going to be released as a single....

Actually if you count the USA special edition of Relase, they actually did release 4 singles from the album:
