Best news I've heard in a while. I'll be extremely surprised if this album is less than superb.
I like to think of it as home...

I don't know how people can feel so attracted to depressive songs, I prefer songs with a positive vision of life. There are so many beautiful things to talk about... life is SO beatiful.joncool5 wrote:What is this happy song/12 track obsession all about?? By 'life' I presume you mean 'alchohol' because if you're talking about the same thing I understand the word to mean then you've overdone your prescription tonight, mate.nickname wrote:I don't know how people can feel so attracted to depressive songs, I prefer songs with a positive vision of life. But the Pet Shop Boys have never really been about happy songs. As I've mentioned countless times.nickname wrote:I don't know how people can feel so attracted to depressive songs, I prefer songs with a positive vision of life. But the psb's music is happy (not their lyrics). So, I think PSB are at the same time depressive and fun. It depens on the song.jamie1978 wrote:But the Pet Shop Boys have never really been about happy songs. Life is, of course, a wonderful thing. But there are a number of very interesting topics covered in song which are depressing my their very nature. Neil and Chris have covered many difficult and depressing aspects of their lives through music. And they have generally done so superbly.
Their music is often upbeat, I think thats a more appropriate term than 'happy' - which is quite hard to apply musically. Happiness is better conveyed through lyrics. Or not, in the PSB's case.nickname wrote:

I think they include in their songs the both sides of the life (the sad things and the happy things). They are not Depeche Mode, afortunately.
