Best news I've heard in a while. I'll be extremely surprised if this album is less than superb.

I don't know how people can feel so attracted to depressive songs, I prefer songs with a positive vision of life. There are so many beautiful things to talk about... life is SO beatiful.

By 'life' I presume you mean 'alchohol' because if you're talking about the same thing I understand the word to mean then you've overdone your prescription tonight, mate.

And...

Are we talking about the same band with a 'positive vision of life' that wrote such happy clappy pop hits as 'Being Boring', 'Rent', 'I Don't Know What You Want But I Can't Give It Anymore', 'It's a Sin', et al...?

But the Pet Shop Boys have never really been about happy songs. As I've mentioned countless times.

Life is, of course, a wonderful thing. But there are a number of very interesting topics covered in song which are depressing my their very nature. Neil and Chris have covered many difficult and depressing aspects of their lives through music. And they have generally done so superbly.

But the psb's music is happy (not their lyrics). So, I think PSB are at the same time depressive and fun. It depens on the song.
I think they include in their songs the both sides of the life (the sad things and the happy things). They are not Depeche Mode, afortunately.

thank god they finally got one producer and a good one at that. the man is legendary for a reason, and hes produced some great pop tunes in the past. Now i feel like showing more interest in the new album- which I had more or less forgotten about for the past 8 years.

Hopefully he takes the guitars away from them in addition to the sushi and shopping

Quality over quantity...

One good producer against say half-a-dozen mediocre producers....

The psb are about MELANCHOLY:
the happiness of being sad.
That's why I love them.
Elegic, nostalgic and epic electronic songs.

Their music is often upbeat, I think thats a more appropriate term than 'happy' - which is quite hard to apply musically. Happiness is better conveyed through lyrics. Or not, in the PSB's case.
