B'ham 1 V Wolves 1

Last minute goal from Wolves. Should have won by half-time with chance after chance. Their goalie kept em' in it. I'm not going to slag em' off cos' we have done really well recently...not conceding a goal for like 10 years Anyway with Cardiff losing it's all OK. Burnley away next...very interesting.

Got my free* Christmas card in the post today off Blues.

*With a note inside telling me I should come to the next 4 matches, buy a credit card, buy a mobile phone, have Sky & sign up a kid for a mascot (which I don't have). Not very Christmas like after reading all that junk mail

Getting nervous about tonight's game away at Tranmere, who are a good side in this division. We've been pretty much unstoppable in recent weeks though and so it will be an indicator of where we're at in terms of getting out this bloody league!

Rovers finally looking as though they might start playing some decent football... 1-0 today against Brighton. It's so annoying it's taken (taking, actually) so long to start looking anything like as good as they are.

Only two league games left at the beloved old Belle Vue ground. We have the opening Rovers game at the new stadium to look forward to on January 1st. Hopefully that in itself should lift the team.








BTW, I know it looks small, but it's actually a lot bigger in real life than it looks in the pictures...

Are those training pitches for the team as well or going to be Council run?

It's all community, basically, the main stadium too. The full sized second pitch will (I think) host the Doncaster Rovers Belles football team and the running track around it will be used by the Doncaster and Stainforth athletics club.

The rest of it I'm sure will be for local football, kids football, etc...]

The Rovers and Lakers rugby will both be using the main stadium (the Lakers should get the second pitch IMHO! ), and there will be concerts and other similar community events held there too.

The Lakers get to play the first match in it, which annoys a bit, but at the same time I'd rather they had the forced reduced capacity first match than us. Should be a full house on January the 1st for Huddersfield's visit.

You can see my seat in the first second picture. Mine is the block to the right of the block the tunnel comes out of, front row, last seat on the right.

Going to miss Belle Vue, and I suspect I could get emotional on the 23rd December as I bid her farewell, but I can't wait for the first match at the 'Keepmoat stadium' !

Well, it was an even match but we made 2 mistakes. We'll easily make the play-offs if we play like that every week (without silly mistakes). We took 1,600 fans on a shitty friday night too so it's looking good for us this season.

Steve...Why they calling it the 'Keepmoat Stadium?'

I thought most new grounds nowadays were named after their sponsors like Carlotti Stadium.

In December Birmingham will have been at St Andrews for 100 years, but I don't know why were named after a Scottish golf course. (Villa fans call it 'The Temple of Doom' & us Small Heath Alliance cos' that was our original name in 1875).

Remember that it isn't Rovers property, so it was never going to be a Rovers linked sponsor by default.

Keepmoat are a company. They are urban regeneration specialists and their directors have just jumped on board at Rovers. They have more money than John Ryan (our Rovers potty multi-millionaire Chairman) and join another multi-millionaire board member (owner of Beresfords solicitors) who joined towards the end of last season.

Rumour has it that it was going to be the DFS stadium, the owner of DFS being one of Doncaster's biggest businessmen. He'd never cared a jot for Rovers in the past, so I think our new Directors from Keepmoat decided to sponsor the stadium to scupper his ideas.

Personally, I think it's a good sponsor's name to have to put up with, not sounding too tacky, which DFS would have done.

It's a 5 year deal anyway, so in 2012 it could be called something else entirely.

I can never get over how tiny the main stadium looks in photos! Whilst it's not huge as stadiums go (15,300 capacity), it is a *big* structure in real life. The only way I can try to give it some scale is to say look at the middle picture above, then look at how small that white van on the outside looks compared!

The new stadium looks good by modern stadia standards although I find them all generic and characterless. Bell Vue was a cracking little stadium. Atleast you're moving to a complete new stadium though!!!!

Yep, they all do look much the same, until the money becomes huge anyway. The complex will have cost £32m by the time it's finished in three or four weeks time.

Belle Vue is a sh*t hole, and has been for many, many years, but there is something to be said for old grounds like our place and they're a dying breed. I'll certainly miss standing to watch football, and the unique character of the ground, that's a definite!

We hit the post 5 times Never mind we're still up there cos' other results went our way. Plymouth next up on Sat at Home then on the following Sat (9th Dec) Home again to Preston N E which I think will go a long way to sorting things out either way.
