Re: Broken Britain

#1531 Post by JSDOUVRES »

I do have strong feelings on immigration and I don't see why I should mince my mords, I have mentioned many many times about how I am not for stopping immigration completely but am in favour of limiting and controlling it, especially for poor countries where immigration here is for economic reasons something that people somehow forget to mention when quoting me.
It is very true that for a young person now Britain is a very hard place and jobs that students used to take like at coffee shops are just not available because a lot of them have been taken up my immigrants, not all of them of course but enough to now make it virtually impossible for youngsters to find such jobs. And it is not because these youngsters are "lazy" and that Eastern European's are the only one's who will do such job's, 1,700 people applying for a job at the coffee shop in Nottingham proves that.
Britain just does not have the space, the jobs, the housing, the hospitals, the schools to have another massive influx of people like when Poland joined the EU a few years back.
At the end of the day it is about protecting what we have and there are too many people in comfortable jobs who just don't give a toss about anybody else. You could bet that if Polish politicians could come over here and work for half the price of British one's taking their jobs then something would be done about it but because it is the job's at the other end of the scale being taken nothing is being done about it. I will be voting UKIP at the next election because they have by far the best manifesto about pulling out of Europe and about making life better at home which simply cannot be done with mass immigration and money being wasted abroad as it is.
If that makes me racist then the word has truly lost all it's meaning to some.

The above stance isn't racist and you make perfectly valid points.

However, when you move away from it and post scaremongering articles demonising Eastern Europeans themselves, which you have done, that's when the lines become blurred.
Passion, love, sex, money, violence, religion, injustice and death. More on that story later.

Do they? So what you are saying is that I should pick and choose stories based on what? And are they scaremongering stories or fact's? That's your personal opinion I'd say so why try to stop me posting such articles??

This is a story about something that happened in Britain. This shows the mentality of some people of a certain faith living amongst us today. Obviously just "scaremongering" from me, but we have to fight to stop this type of sexism. There are many swimming pools in Britain that already have separate sessions for men and woman because of religious beliefs, isn't this against everything Britain stands for? O r am i just being racist again....

At least the criminals in Westminster ensured that our infrastructure could cope with the consequences of mass immigration. Oh.

You can post what you like. My point was that there was nothing racist about your explanation for your stance on immigration, which was actually a backhanded compliment. Based on that alone I would agree that accusations of racism were unfair and that you didn't need to be so defensive.

However, when you move away from the economic side of things and demonise the people themselves by making generalisations such as:
"Yeah, these people couldn't possibly want to come to the UK could they? Living in the conditions they currently do. It will happen, we will all see";
"expect plenty of these people walking our streets early next year, I can't wait, how about you?";
"Obviously more scaremongering...... Won't happen in Britain of course....." then you can't blame people for making other assumptions.

As I said in my post on the previous page, when you express opinions and attach links to stories on emotive subjects, expect to be challenged. Simple as that.

I think what I have said is perfectly accurate, and taken out of context like you have just does not make sense but if it makes you happy...

Exactly like many people in this topic, its far easier ignoring the actual problems and accusing people of racism now isn't it?????
Too polite or cowards?

I think it's more that the middle class ignored it while it benefited them (cheap plumbers/nannies, rising house prices because of demand) but now it's affecting them and their children, it's okay to mention it.

Of course if Bulgarians, Poles and Romanians took the jobs of MPs or BBC journalists, then immigration would be BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD.

Two good and accurate stories, but racist, obviously???????????

I especially agree with the following which is %100 true and any sensible person would agree with it:

"The immigrant has chosen to come to an existing country with its own laws, history, language and so on. Those need to be respected and understood. One cannot be British on one’s own exclusive terms or on a highly selective basis.

That does not mean that pious Muslims must give up their religion and get drunk on Saturday nights.

But it does mean that Muslims must adjust to a society dominated by Christian and secular humanist values, which places a high degree of importance on individual freedom and the rights of women.

And they must accept that their minority rights must co-exist with and sometimes concede to majority rights, especially in the public sphere."

We endorse the rights of women to be seen as pornstars without makeup and I cant remember the name of the other thread on here with pictures of the woman from countdown ....

I doubt you actually know what secular liberal humanism is as you appear to think that it is the same as christian values.

Your posts are mindless.

Mindless? And why would you think I don't know what secular liberal humanism is? http://www.bidstrup.com/humanist.htm Fine, I'm not an expert on the subject but it is pretty small minded of you to judge me on such a thing. And I am an atheist, not christian by the way.

And you are right, I really get your first point, not mindless at all is it???? Perhaps all attractive women should be totally covered up in a Muslim style veil, either that or freedom I suppose. So you don't like pornography or attractive women having the right to show their body off?? Yeah, my posts are mindless....

Only morons who dont know what they are talking about quote epistemologically unsound internet sites claiming to offer the defacto, truth as they see it.

As someone has already wrote, many people are concerned about immigration and thiis is reasonable anxiety given the global capitalists' subjectively produced 'austerity discourse' so that they can introduc an even more draconian and elitist version of their obscene mode lf production and distribution. However, what any thinki king person objects to is your continual profligation lf what amounts to ill thought out xenophobia and racism. You ignore thqt fact that your favourite right wing newspaper is exactly that and presents opinions rather than facts.

Before I get accussed of being a 'guardianista' by your simarly reactionary -though a more interesting writer - bateman - I dont read any newspaper, at all, ever. I dont even read newspaper websites. I get my news from newsnight Nd channel 4 news but tame what they transmit with a pinch of salt as they reflect a bourgeois, establishment view of the world....

Listen up you are going to learn something.

Humanism, the philosophy you claim to favour is anti essentiist.

Essentialism suggests that a group of people share a set of objective characteristics that maKes them other - us as oppossed to them -in the case of these moronic threads the suggestion is that women are only tits and fanny. Humanism is oppossed to the kind of essentialism, that liumps the experienced of all women, all black people, all homosexuals together. When neil tennant js critical of those who talk about an over arching gay culture that is a humanist argument
