you're bringing race and religion into what fundamentally is an issue concerned with neither, at least theoretically. Of course PC attitudes do impinge on both how the claim may have been handled and the reporting of the story

I remember goibg hungry cos my parents had to pay bills rather than buy food

Oh was I really poor and not working ckass at all. My parents couldnt afford to send me to a nice school as they didnt have enough money for the bus fare.
