Remasters or best of's or whatever, I am talking of old material recycled (bit like psb remasters) it it quite clear! Sorry but Battleship Potemkin is the soundtrack music made to fit a film, hardly a pet shop boys studio album is it?
You know very well what I am saying but you are so clever in twisting words and making everything sound as you want.
Oh and i thought you were a "perfectionist" four tracks from disco 3 is hardly half an album is it?
And a bit of advice for yourself, we aren't all as stupid as you think and you need to realize that just because you have an opinion it does not make it a fact. Even if you "claim" to be a journalist which is quite clearly rubbish.

Erasure's Union Street is a studio album with new recordings! It doesn't matter that the songs were old.

Pet Shop Boys' Disco 4 on the other hand, I wouldn't even call that one a PSB album. It's other people's songs, to quote Erasure, remixed by PSB.

It is different in that the PSB were asked by the other artists to work on them whereas erasure just randomly selected some songs they wanted to remix. Disco 4 is a celebration of the PSB's collaborations as opposed to a remix album.

I don't agree with something where the English language is used quite so carelessly, no. I'm old-fashioned like that, you see.

For an act that imploded in 1983, I hardly think Mute is milking Yazoo's back catalogue with one Best Of 16 years after the split, and a box set of remasters the year aforementioned duo stage a reunion tour (apropos of nothing, the Hammersmith show being one of my favourite gigs of all-time, by anyone).

Again, with a 28-year career, I'd hardly call a two-volume singles collection, a Best Of highlights package and a contemporary remix album really pushing the boat out on the DM front.

As we've clearly disagreed over basic mathematics before, including within this very thread I'll let others decide if they agree or not. But if this is your way of indirectly continuing your Erasure apologist's theme by blaming Mute for a constant catalogue repackaging then Im afraid it's a rather poor show.

Just trying to have an opinion as to a possible reason to why Erasure are releasing these albums. The greatest hits one especially. I just look at all the recent Yazoo and DM Album releases which tells me that it is something they like to do. I would say that alongside Erasure they are Mutes best long term acts. Maybe not maybe it was Vince and Andy that wanted this released but I thought that the record company always had a thought in such issues. Just an opinion and sorry if I offended your old fashioned ways. Obviously you see it as just a coincidence with the recent DM best of and remix album from a few years ago and you could be right. I am allowed an opinion though. And I don't see why an Erasure fan would apologize about these releases. Most will be looking forward to Pop remixed I am sure.

They have both basically turned into PSB vs Erasure threads anyway, And not for the first time. Quite simply we can all accept (probably not Loins) that basically there are fans of both, fans of just one of them, fans of neither, and fans of one that simply don't like the other. Fighting about who is better is pretty much a pointless thing to do as at the end of the day it comes down to taste, regardless of number 1 albums or sales or anything.
All I await now is for one of the next posts to claim that if you like Erasure then you have no taste at all but I think it's fair to say that there are plenty people out there that would say that about PSB too to be honest.
