My take away from the performance was: 'how great did that video screen look'? - Hopefully Es took the idea from the planned Dreamworld tour staging and that we have that to look forward to next year.

As for the performance - Olly really is becoming a caricature of himself and Elton's diction has completely gone. Someone said it sounded X-factor -ish and this was my thoughts exactly. Despite this the song still sounds great - perhaps it was 'too big' for them.

Does It's a sin get played a lot on 80's radio stations or is it mainly West End Girls?

Just watched the 2009 performance again. Goosebumps all over, whereas this one, entertaining and spectacular as it is, left me a bit cold. Olly seems nice and fun, but I don't really like how he sings. Don't get me wrong, it's great they did it, even if I don't understand why anybody would claim that was the best performance ever.

Anyway, great recognition for the boys' ( boy's? I never know how to write that, English is not my first language) legacy once again.

Whenever I hear PSB on the radio nowadays 90% of the time it's West End girls or It's a Sin.

Don't think Es Devlin is involved in the Dreamworld Tour. At least that's whatI remember reading somewhere way back when.

In terms of popularity, the three big ones are: West End Girls, It's a Sin and Always on my mind. The third one, I think is Go West. But very far from the other three.

In fact, you can see that even more clear as much as time goes by.

tottenhammattspurs wrote: Thu 13 May 2021, 9:57 am Personally I think it’s down to record labels. Perhaps the boys are fine with it all and to do the performance. As soon as the performance becomes available as a download single then perhaps Parlophone stick their financial hands up wanting a piece and x2 can’t come to an agreement. Best situation? Stay just as producers and writers and don’t become the “act”.
I agree with this and think it's the mostly likely issue. I imagine EMI/Parlophone would need be involved if the track appeared as Elton, Y&Y *and* PSB.
There is a snippet about the charity donation at the bottom of the advert on EMIs Twitter

https://twitter.com/emirecords/status/1 ... 62883?s=19

It's says "including artists and producers shares" - so clearly there is some record/publishing issue somewhere.

Didn’t think the performance needed Chris and Neil although it would have been nice to see a clip of the video of it’s a sin as a nod to the original song. Not entirely sure how much of the proceeds will go to the foundation but something is better than nothing.

Maybe the reason why they were not there was because Chris couldn’t be arsed.

Still it’s all good publicity for the boys even though there are “stories” about contracts and all that mullarky.

Some more scurrilous gossip from Popbitch, who to be fair have proven themselves to be PSB fans in the past.

One of the stand-out moments of the Brits on Tuesday was Elton John and Olly Alexander's performance of It's A Sin – but the papers today tell us we were robbed of a special appearance from Pet Shop Boys too, thanks to an insurmountable 'contractual issue'.

The story that's emerging from unnamed sources in the tabloids is that the dispute centred around the song's stage performance. Some parties wanted it to be an emphatic celebration of gay culture, while others felt it would benefit from having a more 'general' appeal.

If true, that would be a very principled, noble thing to step down over. However, it's slightly different to the story that was going around backstage at the event itself. The rumour on the night was that the whole thing had fallen through because the acts couldn't agree on the order in which they should be credited.

Not a day goes by without me having a moan about the gutter press. So I’m a bit pissed off with myself, that I’m getting taken in with this story

No, during the Dreamworld/Hotspot promoting Neil mentioned she was working on a big play at that moment. A Mary Poppins stage play?

Has there been a poll yet about everyone's favourite It's a Sin performance???

It's got to be 1991 performance tour for me... School boys and bondage, you wouldn't get that at the Brits... Well maybe at an after party if Jonathan King was still around
