Yes, it's true. I see many possibilties PSB could be in the top 10 next week. I don't think they need much more than 7.000 copies to do that.

I think it's even more impressive if we adopt a theory that bands like PSB (artists whose core sales is based on physical albums) suffer from "holidayc sales decrease" even more than digital download pop celebrities. You can download an mp3 file on you laptop wherever you are and you don't need to buy a CD and take your audio system to play this record

The official chart commentary says it differently:

Blurred Lines actually trailed on the first of the midweek sales flashes to The Pet Shop Boys' new album, Electric. The veteran duo's first release for their own X2 label after more than 29 years with Parlophone, it would have been only their second number one album, some 20 years after the first, Very. Its eventual debut at number three (15,715 sales) maintains their 100% record of hitting the Top 10 with every studio album, being their 12th from as many releases. It easily trumps last Parlophone album, Elysium, which was their lowest charting studio set when it debuted and peaked at number nine just 44 weeks ago on sales of 10,418 copies. Electric continues the tradition for all Pet Shop Boys albums to have single word titles, and is their 23rd charted album, including compilations, live sets, scores and soundtracks.

Either way, it's at least a 50% increase on Elysium and that's without a bonus disc release.

It had 4 different editions and what not, Home and dry was played on the radio, it was a totally 'different' direction for them and a 'comeback' album after 3 years. All things considered it failed miserably

Is it really so different? Home and Dry is still distinctively them, I'd of thought.

Very was an abrasive difference. Pulled off rather well, luckily.

Well, back then it was quite different for them. Guitar music, a (sort of) 'rock' album (although we know that it wasn't rock of course), live music/musicians, not wearing any costumes at all and developing an image of a 'real band' with musicians etc. It was all seen pretty much like 'new' Pet Shop Boys (that's what Neil also called them during the Cologne gig prior to the album release).

I really believe they are losing many fans in UK, not in the rest of Europe.

No. It's the same fans but Yes also had a 2cd edition and exclusive content on the iTunes version. So the fans bought four copies of Yes rather than just the two of Electric.

Being Boring was number one in Sweden in December 1990 .
Rent was number one in Poland in December 1987.
Domino Dancing was number one in Poland in October 1988.
So Hard was number one in Sweden in November 1990.
Suburbia was number one in Sweden, Poland, Belgium and KROQ (whatever this is)
