The less it sells, the cheaper the next album and no one will buy it.
I do think it will chart well. It's a new GH package and people buy them. I hope it does, so we can have a decent sounding album next year with a proper pruducer and writer. Not some ten bob bit, same old, same old.
That's ridiculous. Erasure are going to stick around if they fail to make any magic chart number, simply because they run a tight ship - or do you mean all those expensive videos and slick PR campaigns will run them into the ground?
Total Pop *may* sell 6000 units, but I doubt it. As I said, if they were to throw a bombastic live performance (like no other band are capable of, let's get serious here) at the Brits and get an award like that, then I think Total Pop would easily have made top 20, maybe top 10. But that's neither here nor there.
I, like you, also wish Erasure get a bigger name producer, if only to get them some much-deserved attention in the media. See, we can agree on something. As for a different writer, not a chance. The Clarke/Bell writing partnership is golden. Even the Clarke (singular) writing entity is peerless in the pop world - which you can witness when "Just Can't Get Enough"
drinks your milkshake... drinks it right up!

---snip---
Franz Ferdinand have announced details of the release of a new single, "No You Girls", through Domino on 6th April 2009.
Taken from their recent album, "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand", the single will also feature remixes from the legendary Vince Clarke, Noze and John Disco.

Not too shabby. It looks like Vince is getting busy before the new Erasure album writing begins.

Why? So music is only important for you if it is top 20? Very strange thing to say and it seems like you don't just like music for the music!
I for example brought the 4 disk set off of somebody on ebay last week for £20 which obviously means it is not a copy sold to help with the chart position but to be honest I couldn't care less about it!
I think there are certain people obsessed with this which is not good because yes Erasure have not done well in recent years but have the PSB set the world alight? I don't think so.
I wouldn't think it would make any difference for the next album too, I imagine they will have written some songs first before deciding on who to get in to produce it.

I'm not basing sucess on chart position, i'm talking about a top 20 would mean decent sales. Any less and it's bad news. A GH package needs to sell some units. If it only makes the top 30 or 40, it hasn't sold. Then we get the vicious cirlcle. no sales = less budget. That's a no brainer. Pop40 has been advertised on t.v very heavily this week. They need a return for their cash. They are in a business at the end of the day, like every artist.
The early midweek chart has Erasure as top 30.

Actually, I'd look into that if I were you. I am assuming the book is rather large and would only come with the the deluxe edition, but I'm not sure.

See pulse, posters like Undertaker and I genuinely like Erasure. We take the piss because we're Petheads but I'd rather listen to Erasure than the likes of Kings of Leon who are little more than a cool Bon Jovi.

The DVD was what i wanted but the quality is crap. I've sent it back, hoping that i got a poor copy and they aren't all like that. Breath Of Life was a disaster and the miming on some of the TOTP's performances were way out.

It runs both ways. I've been a fan of PSB since 1985.
And although the 30 second clips are hardly indicative of the overall quality of the album, I do think this may be their best album since Bilingual (and maybe since Very). The way they chose certain sections of the songs for the samples make most of them sound similar.
