Oooh, nice link! Nice picture of the old girl on the cover. Just bought that issue - hope it is worth it.

From what I gather, there's likely to be no progress on developing the Belle Vue site for at least 12 months after we've moved out. I have to say that I hope they pull the place down relatively quickly though as to watch it smashed up and probably burnt down by chavs (as it almost certainly would) would be the ultimate insult and definitely not the way to go.

Yeah it was a great win, sends a message out to the rest of League 1.

As for Southend, i think that if you could keep Eastwood then you will battle until the end. Looked like you were extremely unlucky last night.

I watched it, Kris. Well i kept turning over for the snooker as well. I was really dissapointed actually. There are usually goals at Luton. Both teams were frightened to death of playing any football. A scruffy game with 2 struggling teams, that should really be doing better.

Eastwoods chance should have been put away but it looked like he was slightly over-stretching. A bad miss but Southend could do with a few more players to take some responsibility and take the pressure off Eastwood.

Pretty good summary of the game, Dave. The first half especially was very scrappy but it opened up a bit in the second. And you're right about Eastwood, we really have been relying on him too much this season. Last season we had the experience of Shaun Goater and we tried to replace him with Michael Ricketts, which in theory looked inspired but in practice backfired. None of our other forwards so far this season have weighed in with enough goals.

It's pretty much certain that Eastwood will leave in January. It will be very sad to see him go but he deserves a chance at a higher level after two and a half seasons of brilliant service with us. Although it will virtually kill off any hopes of avoiding relegation, I think even with Freddy we'd probably go down as overall we've struggled to cope with the step-up in quality from League 1. Also, our fixture list between now and the end of January is horrendous - Birmingham (h), Norwich (a), Coventry (a), WBA (h), Cardiff (a), Derby (h) and Birmingham (a).

Still, I'm not too despondent. We should get something between £2-4 million for Freddy and most of it should be available for strengthening the squad. And we have a youngster, Gary Hooper, who has the potential to be the new Eastwood. Plus, we should have a new stadium on the way in the next 2-3 seasons so we definitely have the capability to bounce back, should be go down.

Things MUST get better before next Saturday. It's the last game at Belle Vue, and that CAN'T possibly be called off. It's to important.

Yeah, it's a no-win situation for us really. If we get mauled by Spurs then confidence will be low again going into next Saturday's game. But equally, if we give it everything and get a decent result at White Hart Lane then we'll probably be too physically and mentally drained to play to our potential against Birmingham. Having the smallest squad in the division doesn't help either. Mind you, I should congratulate Birmingham for having the decency to agree to move the game back to Saturday, the fixture having originally been scheduled for Friday night. You could easily have said no so fair play to Steve Bruce.

Rangers scraped a draw against Celtic today.
The league is still over though.

I think Steve Bruce wanted more Brummie fans to attend & most of them can't cash their Christmas Giro's till Saturday morning.

I think that must be the same excuse as Everton fans use... Goodison half empty again today. Either that, or the Prestatyn-Liverpool train doesn't run on a Sunday

Well, the time is nearly up for Belle Vue. It's the last match at the old ground for Doncaster Rovers tomorrow before our first home game at the Keepmoat Stadium on January 1st.

Going to be a sad day in a way for a lot of fans. It's going to be so odd going to a football match where you don't have to dodge mud & huge puddles, where you can't watch with a wry smile when the away end get soaking wet when it rains, where the tannoy works only 75% of the time, where the executive boxes aren't portakabins painted red, where the hot chocolate looks and smells like hot chocolate but tastes like mud, and most of all where you have to sit down to watch the match!

She might be in a mess and past her sell by date, but by jove she's got some character.

Here's to the passing of a favourite old girl of Doncaster.

Fair play to Birmingham. The scoreline was a bit harsh as I think you only had six shots in the whole game and the possession was fairly even but you were really clinical where it mattered. I think we would have given you a much better game if we hadn't had the Tottenham game in midweek but in the end your extra class told. You should win this league comfortably now.
