Worth remembering that there are two versions of this song. The RSD seven-inch had the spoken word bit from Neil.
Does the RSD seven-inch coincide with the demo version (briefly for download from the Pet Shop Boys' official website)?
Both of them have the spoken word bit at 2:40.

Greetings,
Well, there you have it ladies and gentlemen - two versions. The things you find out on this forum.
Moving along then, it's time for the decidedly odd...
Track 153: Transparent
Chronology: Release FL CD1:6
... as first heard on the b-side of Miracles, replete with annoying vocal effects and a bit that sounds entirely different, just to mix things up a bit and distract you from the general dullness of the overall listening experience.
Retro.

When I first heard this, my first thought was: "yeah, this is a typical PSB-side". I like this one, as well as the other b-side of this single. In fact, the whole Miracles single was great.

The version on their website circa 2007/08 has the spoken word bit. Wasn't 100% sure it was on the RSD release as I didn't fancy camping outside a hipster record shop in 2010, but it obviously has. I think Neil felt embarrassed about it.

Transparent does meander somewhat. It also feels dated, of its time. Like a video game soundtrack.
Its not awful, just not very good.

By chance has anyone compiled a Spotify Playlist that contains ONLY the Further Listening tracks from all the albums that have them, and willing to share it?
I was going to do it, but thought I'd check here first.
Wayne's books have inspired me to put more focus on those for a while.
