I guess they were just warned off adding political songs to an album after Agenda got a toxic reaction from a loud minority? Decide is a very emotive track, works so well, but is of its time and not very Berlin.

An Open Mind is good too. But I think sometimes when something is relegated to a B-Side it might be because they are knowingly emulating a style, and I think in that case it was Coldplay? Maybe they just didn't want to put an experiment on an album? Pity though. Except it's maybe too uplifting for an album with a mostly sombre outlook?

I love Hotspot, but felt it needed one more punchy song at the start before it dropped off a continental cliff into The One. A Certain “Je ne sais quoi” would have worked well maybe with a bit more work, pity they didn't have a German equivalent expression - is there one?

But in any case, I like Hotspot for what it is. Glad they pointed Price in a different direction. It's got quite a distinctive "mood".

I kind of agree with you. But to go a step further: they should've fleshed out Agenda with two songs.

Maybe, just meybe I can see what you mean but right now and probably for a long while I can feel no faults with I Will Fall. It's the best they've ever done! I'm so happy. Every time I put it on the world becomes a better place. I feel euphoria, inspiration, uplifting melancholy (maybe that's incomprehensible, maybe it's a Nordic thing). "Come away with me... come away with me... come away with me...". Wow. And Neil sings in his lower register, that's where I like him best.

Yes, I will fall is marvelous. The Lost EP, like many of their b-sides in recent years, strikes me as something best explored over time. I find myself more impatient these days with new music. Perhaps it's the pace of life, but if something doesn't provide instant gratification, I tend to move on before returning gradually with more realistic expectations. Then it becomes very enjoyable to properly explore and immerse oneself in these more "throwaway" moments. I think, as they move toward their latter years, the weight of expectation of new music from Pet Shop Boys is a bit of a barrier to true appreciation, sometimes.

I will fall was the most instant hit on Lost for me. The persistence of our protagonist, and the fearless certainty that he feels as he throws himself to the winds of fate builds tension and excitement. There is a weightless inevitability about the whole thing. He's falling in love and it's all going to work out so well. If there are any clouds on the horizon, maybe he should be slightly concerned that has to be so persistent, but he doesn't see that - or any danger - because "love is blind." It's such an optimistic, joyous take.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was looking for the black and white "official" video for the Lost Room but can't seem to find it on PSB Youtube channel. Has it been removed..? Does anyone have it..?
