Missed E2 and E3 at the time, but all caught up now ready for tomorrow.

Did not know the extra stuff about David Walliams - will have to check out that ToTP video to see if I can spot him and Matt Lucas.

As for Actually, it IS a stunning album. I don't remember specifically when I got it, but it must have been on, or close to release date because I remember it being a huge topic of conversation with me and my school friends. I definitely bought it on cassette (at that point although I was buying 12" vinyl, I wasn't yet into buying my albums that way, because I preferred listening to them on my AIWA "walkman" - frequently late at night, in the dark, which allowed you to really "hear" the depth of the music).

Lots of memories and daft anecdotes attached to this album and the single releases. Good times.

Was surprised to hear you came to New Order later given your proximity to Manchester - same here though - not entirely sure how I ended up with Substance on "double" cassette. Maybe a mate put me up to it - but once I heard it, New Order were my second favourite band.

I was trying to remember the stuff I had at the time and struggling a bit. I was heavily into Falco still, despite the UK largely having left him in 1985, and I did own Fleetwood Mac's Tango In The Night. I really wasn't into Five Star or anything SAW related. Would need to look at a list of what was out there at the time to determine anything else.

I can relate to those under the covers Walkman listening sessions.

I was 15 turning 16 in 1987 - a smidgen younger than Graham, I think?

Auto reverse, yes, (bless the person who invented that!) but I don't recall a graphic equalizer. Mine went to Germany on a school exchange with Now 7

I had one of those! With the five little graphic equalizer sliders. I think it's still lurking in a cupboard somewhere because I can't bear to part with my old tech.

Your wish is my command. Correction: three sliders, five presets. And it even has a tape still inside it - Bentley Rhythm Ace! (I wondered where that had got to!) Doesn't appear to be working right now but might be my dodgy batteries.

This bad boy played a lot of PWEI and Prodge and Orb and co in its time. Now I want to get it going again!
