So. Single cd. Double CD. Single vinyl. Double vinyl. White vinyl. Grey vinyl. Clear vinyl. Zoetrope vinyl. Cassette. Blu-ray audio and download. Is that it? Any 10x7” box set courtesy of Vinyl Factory going to rear its head? A triple 10” cube featuring the instrumentals? A 3D picture disc? The entire stems available for download? Signed copies of the super limited edition 8 track cartridge?

Ffs.
is is and isnt isnt

If you’re a vinyl player… pick one colour.

If you listen on your home cinema setup, get the BlueRay.

The rest of us have the double CD that fans want.

There’s a single CD for everyone else.

A sound release. In line with modern listening habits of those not moving to streaming only.

Remember the Electric button?

Some of the comments here are weird. It's like you've been living under a rock about how music is released these days. This isn't exclusive to PSB, most artists have many editions now. With music selling so little compared to what it used to, they know majority will stream so they sell multiple editions as they know fans and collectors will want them. It's not like it's compulsory, and many fans love having so many editions. Nobody loses out, just don't buy it if you don't want it. But the demand is there as a lot of people do want them.

I'm not a completist but I bought the button as it was novel. It has sat there for a decade gathering dust, plus unlike CDs that sit there, you have the problem of where to put it as it's so small. Similarly, I have ordered the Zoetrope even though I will probably never do anything with it. The moral of the story is I'm probably a typical PSB fan with too much disposable income. I suppose if I'm ever desperate for money, I could flog them.

I've done my fair share of moaning about eBay scalpers but last year I ordered one copy of Annual as I do every year. They sent me two. I emailed them to tell them and offer to send it back sealed, and they replied saying how sorry they were and another copy would be sent. I didn't fully read the email and just saw the apology. A week later another copy arrived and I read the email properly, so emailed again to tell them I now had 2 extra copies. They apologised and refunded me for the original. Sold them on eBay for retail price but with free postage and got abuse off other sellers for undercutting them. So good luck selling, PSB sales are brutal on eBay!

Moral of the story is don't message the store if they screw up the order in your favour. I'm admittedly a bit heartless when it comes to people screwing things up like that - it's their job to get the order right, so if they mess it up and it works to your advantage, that's a them problem, not yours.

Furthermore, I am always willing to give credit where it's due to places that mess up orders where I do complain and they put it right (sometimes in spades!). Ordered a custom t-shirt a while ago which was the wrong size, and let them know - they told me to keep it and sent me one of the correct size, which was brilliant because the size that was wrong happened to fit my missus - so now we have matching T's! I gave that store a very positive review afterwards.

I've ordered them all except the cassette and wont buy downloads - I don't dig on that media at all.

I've seen a couple news articles recently about people moving back to physical media (particularly DVD/BluRay) because of the cost, unreliability and unavailability on streaming services. They also noted somewhere that even if you buy digitally, you don't actually OWN that digital copy.

Us kwazy old collectors may yet have the last laugh.

BD/UHD are also higher quality than HD/4K streaming, which has always been my motivation.

would have thought the promotion of the new album would have started by now ,expecting some interviews on the radio or magazines to start very soon 🤔

Little bit soon right now. Attention span are short, and most album promo on TV and radio seems to happen in the week of release so people can get it immediately. As for print, that's already started and we've had a few interviews and articles about it.

Not enough money for them? I think that the first single didn't impress the potential buyer of the album very much and so many different versions says only that the calculation is made on fans only. Remixes of old songs sound really like demos, as someone rightly said. The arrangements are not very interesting, to say the least. Maybe the album is really cool, but then it should have been supplemented with good remixes, bonus tracks and interesting artwork.
