Re: The fifth single
In with a shot at number 87 on the midweeks - will surely drop out by the end of the week, but I think even that's considerably better than any single they've released in years.
Incidentally it's just listed as All The Young Dudes, and the two songs entered separately in last week's download chart. I think the two maxi CDs means it can't be counted as a single release - so it's probably selling even better overall with the two formats taken into consideration. (I read the chart rules and thought the two digital bundles should have been eligible, but then they entered separately anyway, so who knows. And it's not like it matters really!)

Re: The fifth single
I don't know why NLB got top billing when it only has two versions, while Dudes has SEVEN, a video and all the promotion.

Because it’s a vastly superior song. ATYD makes My Girl sound like a masterpiece.

PET SHOP BOYS SPEAK AND DUDES GETS PHYSICAL
“Everyone’s dancing to Roxy and Bowie...” *
If you’re in the UK you’re no doubt already aware of the latest offering from @petshopboys in the shape of the double A side single: New London Boy and the David Bowie penned All The Young Dudes.
They sent us this exclusive quotation: “All The Young Dudes captures a moment: watching the young being young and loving them for it. It’s one of Bowie’s most resonant songs and we hope he would have liked our version.”
The Boys have been promoting the release on UK media including a spectacular presentation of Dudes on the BBC’s Strictly.
The lyrics of New London Boy are about Neil Tennant moving to London in 1972 at the height of the glam rock era when All The Young Dudes was a hit – linking the two songs thematically.
Obviously, the title hints at Bowie’s own The London Boys, which covers similar ground.
Released digitally on 7th of November and physically as two CD singles on 15th of November, the cover art for the first format/CD1 features a photo of Neil taken that year when he first moved to London, while the second format/CD2 cover is a picture of Chris shot in 1981, the year he arrived in the city.

View the video for All The Young Dudes here: youtube.com/watch?v=pcQDDq…
Neil and Chris are pictured here with DB in February 1996 backstage at BBC Television Centre for their Top Of The Pops performance of Hallo Spaceboy.
FUN FACT: Pet Shop Boys have sold more than 50 million records, released 60 singles spanning five decades and are listed in The Guinness Book of Records as the most successful UK duo of all time.
Christmas #1 perhaps?
* Today’s lyric quotation is from New London Boy.

Re: The fifth single
At https://www.trackyourparcel.eu I now got a DHL tracking number (LY.....DE) which you can enter at the postnl website(!) because PostNL will be the one delivering the package: https://jouw.postnl.nl/track-and-trace. This will be available in a couple of days, when PostNL gets the package.oakey wrote: Sun 17 Nov 2024, 12:35 pm Got a shipment notification too now. No tracking details yet though, if you enter the tracking no it says: "Je pakket beschikt nog niet over volggegevens. We raden je aan om het morgen opnieuw te proberen of de verkoper direct te contacteren"
(no tracking available yet, please try back tomorrow or contact the seller directly)
Re: The fifth single
I checked my tracking number and it doesn't show as tracking anywhere - not on Post Office website or on DHL...bit disappointing since it was allegedly shipped a week ago. So basically they created a "label" and it's languishing somewhere in a postal workers desk drawer.

Re: The fifth single
I received a back order notification from the US store a few weeks back and immediately asked they cancel the order. I had to poke them two weeks later, but they finally did. Received the singles from Amazon UK here in the US on Wednesday, November 20.

Re: The fifth single
How do you think they're counting New London Boy (#1) and All the Young Dudes (#4) separately on the Physical Singles chart? I wondered if the latter was the remixes disc but it looks like it's the original version on the NLB disc.

Re: The fifth single
It'll be disc 1 and disc 2 based on their lead tracks - you can't have more than one maxi single contributing to a single chart entry. They've just sourced the wrong images for them.
