Personally, I think it was only made to be the fault of the Liverpool fans to save face at UEFA because the match shouldn't have been played at a dump like Heysel to begin with.

FA to address homophobic chanting
The Football Association
The FA have acted in response to complaints about fans' behaviour
Homophobic chanting is to be explicitly banned at football stadiums for the first time by the Football Association.

Ground regulations currently warn that "racial and other discrimination" can lead to ejection, or even arrest if it is sufficiently serious.

However, a spokeswoman for the FA said the rules are changing to specifically mention homophobic behaviour.

All Premier League and Football League clubs have signed up to the rules, which come into force next season.

"Traditionally, the rules were there to police racism at football matches," the spokeswoman said.

"But homophobic abuse was something that has been highlighted to us, and we are taking a strong stand against it. It was implicit in the rules, but now it's absolutely clear."

Yeah, well done. We decided that since it's not called the LDV Vans Trophy anymore that it wasn't worth winning .

I'm just wondering, is that the same competition which, in the early nineties was called the ZDS Cup and was entered by non-top-flight clubs?

No, that was for 1st and 2nd tier clubs.

Although, all of the big clubs opted out of the Simod/Zenith Data Systems Cup. It was really a rather poor substitute for European football.

Also, if rumours are to be believed, there are already plenty of "real queens" in the Arsenal squad

It was formerly the Freight Rover Trophy, I think.
