It’s great to see these songs within the context of the rest of the charts. You only tell me you love me when you're drunk was surrounded by generic garage pap, eurotrance and westlife.

Their last self penned top five UK single was So Hard. 36 years ago!!

Yes, though I can't stand most of the music on these ones, it is interesting to see them contextually.

No. In fact there's a few singles, as well as It's Alright, that had no TOTP or indeed any TV promotional performances. Off the top of my head... Jealousy. DJ Culture. Was It Worth It..?. Yesterday, When I Was Mad. Before. London. Numb. There may be others, but these are the ones that immediately stick out...

I think they were on tour in Asia during the It's Alright campaign. I remember they performed Minimal on Popworld but I don’t think it made TOTP.

Streets wasn't performed on TOTP either which means that between Being Boring and A Red Letter Day, they only performed Can You Forgive Her? and Liberation, though Neil did a live vocal of Disappointed with Electronic.

You do wonder why - maybe without Tom Watkins, they weren't being pistolwhipped onto the show, plus it partly coincides with a demand by TOTP producers to perform live rather than mime, but it is strange that they'd repeatedly turn down such obvious promotion.

It's always seemed really odd to me that they didn't do Go West, in some ways the song with the most front-loaded momentum of their entire career, on TOTP. Has anyone ever explained why?

No Live promotion for DJ Culture and Was it worth it?? when you've got a greatest hits to promote is a wild stance!

Indeed. A very odd approach.. Maybe they were tired after the Performance tour a few months previously and wanted a break. But I was surprised at the time that EMI didn't insist on some promotional appearances from them to push those singles AND Discography... A 5 minute chat on Going Live with Sarah Greene doesn't exactly cut it..
