Good track!
The intro is perfect, although the fake violins ruin it quite a bit for me.
Overall another winner!

Fake?
I thought they worked with a proper orchestra on the entire album? :?

No no, not a fake!
...That's what I thought too, but these strings were obviously fake.
Just as fake as some of the trumpets on Potemkin!

This song really grows on you. It's the one I'm listening to the most at the moment. I just wish it were a minute or so longer. Would be great to get an extended PSB remix of this. I love the part where Neil sings "....and left" - tons of emotion bubbling under.

And the worst thing is: I've been through a situation very much alike...

Really got me... :)

Beautiful song and also the one I'm listening to most. THe intro is sublime and innovative but the end always leaves me wanting another verse and repeat of the excuses....and left line to finish it.
Its crashed into my top 10 PSB now

yeah me too.I really am trying to figure out why they came up with such a beautiful track yet then went on to give it such a awkward and abrupt setup.

I think its because I like it so much that it can be a tad frusterating imagining the possibilities..I can just picture there being a second verse and chorus with a little more harmony vocals and that part where he sings higher would be the middle section etc etc.

This really could have been a 9 minute (dare say 10 minute) epic, very nice quiet ballad. Then M_I_N_I_M_A_L kicks ins

Right now, its my favourite track on Fundamental.

Masterpiece.... something of the Behaviour era.

My wife is going to write the music for me in the piano!!!

by Being boring
The last verse made me cry ("So long ago..."), the last PSB that touched me like that was So sorry I said

This is one of the finest songs they've ever written - it's heartbreakingly beautiful.

Shivers.

Indeed, I think this is Chris.

I listened to the snippets on this Parlophone Media Player thing (or whatever is is called) and I was hugely dissapointed by the album. But I have learned my lesson. Never judge an album on some snippets....

I just discoverd that this song can be fully heard here : http://www.sr.se/p3/diverse/appdata/pop/sounds/popA.ram , 8:26 minutes into the stream.

This songs gives me shivers. It's sooo sad. Now I remember why I was a PSB fan in the first place.

======================

(I’m all alone again, I’m all alone)

I walked into the room
imagine my surprise
you were sitting close to him
staring in each other’s eyes

Each of you looked up
but noone said a word
I felt I should apologise
for what I hadn’t heard

A silence filled the room
awkward as an elephant
in the crowded court of your love
I was now a supplicant

And clumsy as I felt
at stumbling on this theft
to save further embarassment
I made my excuses and left

So long ago
I felt like such a fool for crying
all that I know
is when you feel inside you’re dying
it all begins again defying
your excuses
