Except the Sound of the Atom Splitting.
Put that on the album.

whats cool for me is I dont think there is a bad song on fundamental. I never thought that about any other PSB CD. usually I hated at least one or tracks.

I just think there is a.....not a bad arrangement.... but a misguided one for sodom and gomorrah show. its a tad too bubble-gum. and generally I like poppy sounding arrangements.

<b>Please</b>

This is a difficult one. I'm going to let <i>Opportunities (reprise)</i> (and later <i>God willing</i>) pass and focus on the full tracks. I'll go with <i>Suburbia</i>, which is so much better as the single mix. I can't believe some of the tracks people are picking from this album! Have you all gone mad?

<b>Actually</b>
<i>Hit music</i>. obviously.

<b>Introspective</b>
I've never really warmed to this album quite the way other fans have; the single mixes are all superior to the album mixes. I'll go with <i>It's alright</i> (the one cover that I always forget isn't "theirs").

<b>Behaviour</b>
Another difficult one. I'm going with <i>How can you expect to be taken seriously</i> because the album version really jars in sequence. The single mix would have worked so much better in context. Sigh.

<b>Very</b>
As with <i>Behaviour</i> there isn't a duff track to be seen. I'll reluctantly go with <i>One in a million</i> because the lyrics are so facile.

<b>Relentless</b>
Third perfect album in a row (and if not for <i>Hit music</i> arguably their sixth) without a truly bad track. Tied with <i>Behaviour</i> as their best album in my opinion. But I'll say <i>KDX 125</i> and move on.

<b>Bilingual</b>
Here's where the rot sets in. The next two albums are litterest with contenders for weakest track. <i>Saturday night forever</i> is absolutely dreadful and I've always been appalled by <i>It always comes as a surprise</i>. But the winner has to be <i>Electricity</i>, a track so poor I've probably heard it under 10 times since 1996.

<b>Nightlife</b>
So much rubbish here, despite three genuine classics (<i>For your own good, Happiness is an option</i> and <i>You only tell me you love me when you're drunk</i>, for those keeping track at home). It really is a vexing tie between the entire second half of the album, but I'm going to go with <i>New York City boy</i> for being the single most embarrassing thing they have ever done.

<b>Release</b>
<i>The night I fell in love</i>. This is actually a surprisingly strong album now that I think about it. It's aged so much better than the previous two. <i>Birthday boy</i> and <i>I get along</i> are easily among my favorite tracks they've ever done.

<b>Fundamental</b>
<i>Numb</i> by a country mile.

Nightlife - In denial.

Possibly the best example of where they disappeared up their own arse in the Nineties. Write a self-indulgent musical by all means but to then litter your album with cast-offs from it is quite another. In 1987 they released a Motown-tinged classic with Dusty. By 1999 they were releasing kitsch showtunes with Dannii's less bosomy half and wondering why Radio One wouldn't play them anymore. Without doubt the nadir of PSB as a pop group although it has a certain charm for gay men in their fifties with a daughter who knows he's gay. Don't we all, darling?

it's amazing how different tastes are. a couple people's lists read like my personal FAVORITES list. crazy...
my least favorites are:
please: reprise (only because i can't pick a bad one. ps- how can someone dislike later tonight?)
actually: hit music (not hated... just liked least)
introspective: always on my mind ("what?! "dog" is brilliant!)
behaviour: how can you expect... (the single version made up for it.)
very: one in a million (the beginning of the end...)
bilingual: Metamorphosis (turns my stomach. really.)
release: the night i fell in love (brilliant and funny concept, crap music.)
fundamental: luna park (how can one song last so long and nothing happen?)

this poll really makes me realize how ace the first half of their body of work is.

This is the worst PSB period in my opinion. Strip away the musical tracks from Nightlife and plug the gap with the most uninspired collection of b sides in their career and you've still got a wretched album. Looking back it's absolutely astonishing to me that they managed to produce something as unerringly brilliant as Drunk during this time ... or that Neil was still capable of penning lyrics for Happiness.

Thankfully Release began the crawl back and now all the Fundamental stuff is once more classic PSB. I sorely missed those trademark Tennant lyrics that disappeared around 1996.

actually: shopping , hit music / what have i, rent, heart(single), i want to wake up
introspective: I LOVE ALL IN THIS ALBUM!
behaviour: the same but most played and favourite is my october symphony
very+ relentless: one in a million is the only track i skip, cause this is THE MASTERPIECE!
biligual: metamorphosis, electricity / all the rest is so good!
nightlife: i dont like this album except closer to heaven, I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more, in denial
release: the same except you choose, the night i fell in love, home & dry
fundamental: I LOVE ALL, again at last!!!
