Yeah, I was a bit too eager to get them off iTunes, they aren't great are they.
Lesson learned.

CLEARLY, no.303krs wrote:Could anyone tell me CLEARLY if I buy, for example, the instrumental version, does it help PSB in the charts in the UK ?
(BTW, I don't live in the UK...)
I shall say this only once more: the only one of the mixes listed above that will help their chart position is...
the single version
None of the others will count.
Downloads ONLY count if (a) they represent a physical format (i.e. a bundle with the same tracks as the CD; 7"; etc) OR (b) it is a 1-track download of just the single version. No others. Ever.
Also, purchases made outside the UK (even of physical formats) do not count for the UK chart.
r.
Edit: God I sounded arsey in that post...

So, for arguements sake, they issued the following:
CD:
I'm with stupid
Girls Dont Cry
Maxi CD:
I'm with stupid REMIXES (i.e a 5 track CD with 5 remixes on but not the original track)
The Maxi CD would count for the chart.
However if they had all the remixes bundled as a download BUT there wasnt a Maxi CD, then these wouldnt?
So by downloading all the remixes is basically just a way of making money and not increasing their chances of a higher chart position.
That sucks!

Or a way of making otherwise unreleased material available to the fans? One of the crowd wrote:So by downloading all the remixes is basically just a way of making money and not increasing their chances of a higher chart position.
Besides, the main reason record companies are interested in chart positions is surely increased sales - they're not interested in having a number 1 purely for chartology's sake - they want the extra sales & prestige generated by having a number 1.
