Awesome track indeed.

Am I the only one that thinks that it should have been the opener of Fundamental? It's such a good track to be "wasted" on a bonus CD (but at least we're lucky to be getting it).

It fits the album, both sound-wise and lyrics-wise. It reminds me so much of some really good songs from their initial era. One more chance, In the night, and others.

I really don't think that it's wasted. Available to a select few perhaps (although with Amazon selling the special edition for £8.99 perhaps not that select) but PSB have always 'buried' some of their best tracks (eg: The Resurrectionist - geddit? ) as either b-sides or album tracks. Just think of all the brilliant songs they've made that are not on PopArt - and I'm not talking about Was it worth it? or How can you expect to be taken seriously? either, dVTB.
Plus Fundamental is a Trevor Horn album. The Richard X one is yet to come.....

That's it! I'm soooo jealous now! Scanning the net as we speak...

It seems like light years had passed since i heard as many really excellent psb tracks in a row again, what a satisfaction! I love Fugitive! Any soul here knows what the song is all about? The escapist and brotherhood theme of it reminds me their friend's Elton John's "Daniel", one my fave songs ('Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane / Daniel my brother you are older than me / Daniel you're a star in the face of the sky / Lord I miss Daniel, oh I miss him so much), and isn't that the deafening sound of an approaching landing plane you hear at the begining of the track..??!
Whatever, fantastic track! Ages before my head would get rid of the chorus!

Wow! What a great track! Reminds me of when I heard "My head is spinning" on Relentless the first time. The first verse and the chorus about brotherhood really gives me goosebumps, makes me want to be a fugitive.

Anyway, I think Fugitive wouldn't have sounded like this if it was produced by Trevor Horn. It would have been more orchestral and Fugitive would sound different but don't know if better. I'm getting a feeling that some people are disappointed now after hearding this and the Resurrectionist because these songs are what they expected Fundamental to sound like: relentless synthbeat-driven songs which the Pet Shop Boys made in the 80s and early 90s.

BTW, I think the Resurrectionist extended mix could have been included on Fundamentalism since it wouldn't sound out of place with tracks like Fugitive. Don't know why it isn't.

The jet sounds reminds me of Richard X's last notable effort, remixing New Order's "Jetstream". Get it?

Neil Tennant isn't the sort.

It sounds to me like a lament, "You WERE my brother". I can see how he feels, when two men break up, there's more than love, there's friendship, comradeship that's lost too.

The idea that this is meant to be a love song to/about terrorists is nauseating. Someone please point out where Neil ever declared this.
