I used to be "NOT TOO SHOCKED"about the album after the first listen because I was waiting for more DANCE tracks instead of SLOW ones.
The same happened to me with Behaviour, an Album that after a year or so I could completely understand and I have adored it from that moment on.

I think FUNDAMENTAL is a MASTERPIECE in terms of creation of moods. Each song is a whole world by itself.

I found that the tracks order doesn't help much to keep it fluently moody.

Melodies and lyrics get along so well that you can't really think of them separetely.

My ranking SO FAR is the following :

VERY
BEHAVIOUR
FUNDAMENTAL
INSTROSPECTIVE
ACTUALLY
PLEASE
RELEASE
NIGHTLIFE
BILINGUAL

I could bet that the following album will be sort of INTROSPECTIVE. Look at the following sequence :

PLEASE (Listenable Pop)
ACTUALLY (Listenable Pop)
INSTROSPECTIVE (Danceable Pop)
BEHAVIOUR (Listenable Pop)
VERY (Danceable Pop)
BILINGUAL (Listenable Pop)
NIGHTLIFE (Danceable Pop)
RELEASE (Listenable Pop)
FUNDAMENTAL (Listenable Pop)

...it should be something more danceable next time, right :?:

ok. I am overthinking.

I'm one of the few who's gotten into Twentieth Century. I don't see what is wrong with it.

i hadn't downloaded all the traks either - and I am glad I didn't cos I got a wondeful suprise - I Made My Excuses and Left, 20th Century and Indefinite Leave To Remain (the ones I hadn't heard) are superb...

Its such a great album, and would probably be my 2nd fave PSB album thus far :D

The only track thats a tiny bit blah IMO is Luna Park.

I agree with Technotrancemix. Twenthieth Century is an indespensible album track like "I want to wake up" or " The end of the world" or "The theatre." Probably not top-five single material, but definitely not the filler or throw-away stuff most bands stuff their albums with, Twentieth Century is one of those tracks that makes the album unique to that particular style and period like the other aforementioned songs. It's a song that makes the album worth purchasing and listening too rather than just buying the singles!

A good tune, although I'm also slightly bemused by the (alleged) subject matter.

Erections and terrorists? Whatever next?

Is Chris gay ? , might be the next song.
