TSAGS is at least as dated as Integral IMO. That harps or whatever melody / sound before the first verse reminds me of late 80's Blue Savannah song. Soundstyle-wise, this album is not very fresh (not that I would mind, it's just that I don't see that good point in claiming that this or this song does or doesn't SOUND dated).

I agree that it should have been the first single. I've been saying that all along. but what do I know? I'm just a lowly newbie PSB fanatic!

it doesn't matter if it's dated or 'been there done that'. plenty of singles in the history of Pop and Rock that have surged to the top spot and stayed there for weeks and weeks have been dated. in fact, therein lies the attraction for the general public, the latest example being Blunt's YB. it's very hard to say just what it is exactly about a song that's a crowd puller and an ear-bender. whatever it is, in my 25 or more years of being a Rock/Pop fanatic -- TS&GS has it. whether it's the careening intro, the rollicking rock drums, the instantly seductive chorus combined with Neil's fragile voice telling us a STORY (an instant hit in the history of rock/pop)...
sure, TS&GS may be 'campy' and 'cheesy', but it's got a certain epic strength that transcends musical genre.
as such, IMO, it should have been the first single -- the one that introduced Fundamental to the 2006 music-buying/hearing/loving public. I'm with Stupid should have been the second because of its relevance and timing. And the third could have been Minimal. if we were lucky, we could have thrown in Integral when the UK ID cards stuff began.
anyway... all just my opinion which ain't worth much right now considering all the water under the bridge.

Sodom is the best since Go West and Can you forgive her? and it is one of the best song in history of PSB. It so as if not release as single Go West

This song can save them

in world music
You think so? Hmm, I never thought GW was that great either. For me, Sodom seems more reminiscent of that villagey-people feel of Go West and New York city boy. There does not seem to be any substance in the song, on so many levels thus why it is not really my cuppa.
Then again, the 'public' seemd to really like Go West and New York city boy so what do i know.

there's a LOT of "substance" in the song. all you have to do is listen to the lyrics and read between the lines.
*tries really, REALLY hard to find 'substance' in Minimal, fails, and goes back to work*

There's no need to be patronising about it. What flots your boat doesn't necessarily have to float mine. That's called subjectivity and/or diversity.
As for your stance on Minimal. I suggest you (re)-read only the second post in this thread, which captures the essence of my dislike for Sodom. Minimal fails to satisfy this critera, therefore your 'argument' is null and void.

I'm not being patronizing. I'm disagreeing with you about Sodom, not Minimal. that was an aside meant not for you but in general.

Unfortunately, while every other song on Fundamental, yes surprise surprise even Numb, is growing on me, Sodom still remains a very run of the mill song...Its remix version in Fundamentalism shows that it had such a great potential wasted away...

Having listened to the fantastic album Fundamental around 50 times now it's obvious to me that this is the strongest single by a country mile.
Minimal as the second single is a fantastic choice but forget the Album track 'Numb' and the dated 1994 sounding 'Integral' and get on with the job of selling records by releasing The Sodom And Gomorrah Show.
Excuse me but there is nothing 1994 about "Integral".
They should have got the ball rolling with this blistering chord changes, thunderous epic then eased off a little with Luna Park. Never mind, Integral will be the grand finale single off Fundamental.

Not Integral no... I can't understand what you PSB fans see in it! I would rather want What keeps mankind alive with Electricity as a b - side on it released

It is by far the song I have listened to the least playing Fundamental (a good thing it is the last song) whereas, as said earlier by me in this thread, The Sodom and Gomorrah show has proven to be a fantastic song ever since the first listening of the album and still going strong! Really hope it (there) will be a single. Takk fyrir mig!

It won't be. Numb is the third and final single taken from this album. It's highly unlikely to make any impression in the charts. After the release of Concrete, PSB will start touring and move on to the next project. The Fundamental book is closed already, in fact.

No it's not. The "Fundamental book" won't be closed until the Fundamental tour is over. I still think there is the possibility of a fourth Fundamental single early next year to coincide with the tour hitting UK/Europe.

How do you know it wont make an impact on the charts, just how do you know?
